  • Patent number: 10502028
Abstract: A method includes severing a liner positioned in a first wellbore at least partially lined with casing and thereby providing a severed end, conveying a mid-completion assembly into the first wellbore and receiving the severed end within a tail pipe assembly of the mid-completion assembly, wherein a smallest inner diameter of the mid-completion assembly is greater than or equal to a smallest inner diameter of the liner and thereby permits tools sized for operations in the liner to pass through the mid-completion assembly, actuating an expandable device of the mid-completion assembly to sealingly engage an inner surface of the casing uphole from the severed end, and drilling a second wellbore extending from the first wellbore.

  • Publication number: 20160194930
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for positioning an isolation device within a multilateral well to isolate a live wellbore from other wellbores in the well system. The isolation device can be changed from an open position to a closed position substantially contemporaneously to the wellbore becoming a live wellbore. Another procedure can be performed on the other wellbore of the multilateral well while the isolation device is in the closed position. A tubing string or a short or intermediate completion string can isolate a wellbore from pressure applied to another wellbore within the multilateral system. The tubing string or the short or intermediate completion string may also isolate a junction area of the multilateral well system.

  • Patent number: 8360142
Abstract: A system comprising a first expandable tubular section and a first expansion bridge coupled to an inner surface of the first expandable tubular section. A base pipe is coupled to the first expandable tubular section and to a second expandable tubular section. A second expansion bridge is coupled to an inner surface of the second expandable tubular section. The system also comprises an expansion cone disposed within and translatable relative to the first expandable section. The expansion cone has an expansion diameter greater than an inner diameter of the first and second expansion bridges and less than an inner diameter of the base pipe.

  • Publication number: 20110048741
Abstract: A downhole axial expansion or telescoping tool includes radially expandable tubular members. The tubular members are relatively moveable before and after radial expansion, and include an intermediate layer therebetween of a non-metal or non-cladding material. The intermediate layer may provide any one or more of lubricity, load transfer, sealing, and shape retention during and after radial expansion.
