  • Publication number: 20170340861
Abstract: A multi-conductor cable for use in a catheter is described. The conductor-cable is isotropically flexible to allow catheter steering, but is also longitudinally stiff enough to push and pull the entire cable through the catheter lumen. In one implementation, the multi-conductor cable is bundled for most of its length, to provide longitudinal stiffness and support pushing and pulling the cable through a catheter lumen. However, in one such implementation, the portion of the cable within a steerable section of the catheter is unbundled and divided into individual conductors or groups that are flexible enough that they do not bias or otherwise interfere with the steering of the catheter. In one such approach, a spring wire or other stiffening element is added to the cable at that location to preserve or enhance longitudinal stiffness (tension and compression) of the cable through the unbundled flexible section.

  • Publication number: 20170288638
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to the bulk manufacture of transducer arrays, including arrays having at least one 3D printed (or otherwise additive manufactured) acoustic matching layers. In certain implementations, the manufactured transducers include a composite-piezoelectric transducer on a de-matching layer. In one implementation, by producing multiple arrays at once on a common carrier, and by using direct-deposit additive processes for the matching layers, the described processes greatly reduce the number of parts and the number of manual operations.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for positioning an isolation device within a multilateral well to isolate a live wellbore from other wellbores in the well system. The isolation device can be changed from an open position to a closed position substantially contemporaneously to the wellbore becoming a live wellbore. Another procedure can be performed on the other wellbore of the multilateral well while the isolation device is in the closed position. A tubing string or a short or intermediate completion string can isolate a wellbore from pressure applied to another wellbore within the multilateral system. The tubing string or the short or intermediate completion string may also isolate a junction area of the multilateral well system.
