  • Publication number: 20230256831
Abstract: A technique provides power-limiting regenerative braking to a utility vehicle. The technique involves detecting that the utility vehicle is moving in a forward direction at a first speed. The technique further involves applying a first regenerative braking power level to the utility vehicle in response to detecting that the utility vehicle is moving in the forward direction at the first speed. The technique further involves detecting that the utility vehicle is moving in the forward direction at a second speed which is less than the first speed. The technique further involves applying a second regenerative braking power level to the utility vehicle in response to detecting that the utility vehicle is moving in the forward direction at the second speed. The second regenerative braking power level is lower than the first regenerative braking power level.

  • Patent number: 11673474
Abstract: A technique controls regenerative braking to reduce skidding of a vehicle. Such a technique involves imparting rotation to an alternating current (AC) electric motor to move the vehicle to a first commanded vehicle speed; applying a regenerative braking power to the AC electric motor to bring the vehicle to a second commanded vehicle speed; while applying the regenerative braking power, adjusting the level of regenerative braking power applied to follow a predetermined speed reduction rate; while adjusting the level of regenerative braking power applied, provide a limit to the maximum level of regenerative braking power available; and while providing the limit to the maximum level of regenerative braking power available, adjusting the limit to the maximum level of regenerative braking power available based on a current speed of the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20220266806
Abstract: A technique controls an electric brake of a vehicle. The technique involves continuously providing power to the electric brake of the vehicle to continuously disengage the electric brake and allow the vehicle to move. The technique further involves, while power is continuously provided to the electric brake and the vehicle is moving, sensing a fault condition. The technique further involves, in response to sensing the fault condition, providing electric pulses to the electric brake in place of continuously providing power to the electric brake, the electric pulses having varying pulse timing that controls braking of the vehicle. Accordingly, the vehicle is able to provide a more consistent braking response regardless of variations in certain factors such as brake calibration and/or current wear, the current weight in the vehicle, the current temperature, etc.

  • Patent number: 10415799
Abstract: A dual output downlight luminaire includes a housing that forms at least a first cavity. A partition extends from a portion of the housing and at least partially forms a boundary between the first cavity and an annular second cavity. A first light source emits a first light that is centered about an optical axis and propagates toward a first output aperture. An optic redirects the first light to form a first light beam that exits the luminaire through the first output aperture. A concentrated portion of the first light beam subtends an angle of 60 degrees or less and is centered about the optical axis. A plurality of second light sources, within the second cavity, emit a second light that exits the luminaire through an annular second output aperture. The first and second light sources are independently controllable with respect to each other.

  • Patent number: 8207626
Abstract: A device and method for activating the electronic odometer of a vehicle without using an electrical power source residing on the vehicle. The device is housed in a portable case and includes an electrical power source, a load circuit for connecting the power source to the electrical system of a vehicle, and a fault protection circuit that is electrically in parallel with the load circuit for protecting the vehicle and the device from damage that could otherwise result from a short circuit in the vehicle's electrical system. The method includes a series of steps that involve connecting electrical power to the vehicle's computer and various electrical subsystems in a predefined order.

  • Publication number: 20090034261
Abstract: An LED light fixture with enhanced thermal management. The fixture may be in a surface-mounted or a recessed configuration. The LED is attached with thermally-conductive material, such as thermal transfer tape, to a heat sink or housing. The heat sink may comprise a number of cooling fins to radiate heat, as well as a number of openings to promote cooling air flow. A variety of reflector assemblies can be used for different optical and aesthetic configurations. One or more lenses may be used.

  • Patent number: 7320075
Abstract: A system and method in which the operating system of the user computer loads the software application and a DLL having a portion of the application execution code stored therein into memory is disclosed. At selected points during its execution, the software application calls the DLL to execute a portion of the application code that was saved into the DLL before delivery to the end user. Since this code is encrypted and the encryption key is stored in a hardware security device and not in the DLL or the software application, the application code portion cannot be executed without recovering the key.

  • Publication number: 20050198370
Abstract: A system and method for creating, deleting, and maintaining logical networks based on the needs of a network. Logical networks are created on a physical network and can be encrypted to further isolate the logical networks. Logical network addresses are maintained for network nodes and aged based on responses from network nodes. Network nodes can be detected and added to additional logical networks based on network or users needs. Network nodes can be added or removed on a as needs basis. Additionally, logical networks can be removed based on system needs.
