  • Publication number: 20100320220
Abstract: A plastic lid for a drinks container, for example, a coffee cup, is provided. The plastic lid is provided with an ancillary access facility in the form of an opening or a part of the lid easily removable to form an opening. The ancillary access facility allows a person to drink from the container without removal of the lid. After the ancillary access facility has been cleaned or de-contaminated it is protected by the application of a protective cover. The protective cover may have a variety of shapes, for example, it may cover all of the lid or it may cover only a selected part of the lid, for example, only the area of the lid involving the ancillary access facility. The protective cover protects the ancillary access facility from the inadvertent transfer of germs to the drinking area by the person dispensing the drinks as they push the lid down with their hands to seal the lid to the container top.

  • Patent number: 4507584
Abstract: High pressure discharge lamps have discharge tubes of ceramic material having end caps into which electrodes are mounted on fixed shanks. The invention provides a preferred construction for mounting on electrode shank or an external conducting member in a cermet end cap. A metal coil is fixed in a respective opening in the end cap and supports the respective shank or conductor therein. Preferably the cermet is pressed into the desired shape with an aperture in it. The coil is inserted into the aperture so that after sintering the coil is fixed into the sintered cermet.

  • Patent number: 3941390
Abstract: A golf club head is formed having weighting material of a density greater than the density of the parent head material positioned at the sides of the club head to increase the inertia effect of the head. The weighting material can be arranged to increase the inertia effect of the head and at the same time shaped to locate the centre of gravity of the head in alignment with the shaft centre line. The invention also contemplates the pre-positioning of the weighting material at a specified distance from the bottom of the club head whereby the swingweight may be changed without either changing the overall weight of the club or the head and/or changing the shaft flex. The invention also provides a design of soleplate to increase the inertia effect when attached to a golf club head.
