  • Publication number: 20210315199
Abstract: Disclosed herein are compositions, methods, and systems for enhancing survival of mammalian cells frozen at low temperatures. In many embodiments, the cells may include stem cells that may survive at an enhanced rate relative to other cells. In some embodiments, the compositions may include Wharton's Jelly, and may optionally include DMSO and albumin, for example human serum albumin. However, in various embodiments, the disclosed compositions comprising Wharton's Jelly may eliminate or reduce the need for traditional cryopreservatives. In some embodiments, the disclosed compositions, methods, and systems may preferentially enhance survival of stem cells, for example mesenchymal stem cells. In some embodiments, the cells may be derived from umbilical cord tissue, for example Wharton's Jelly.

  • Publication number: 20200072712
Abstract: A tissue mincer includes a canister defining a chamber and an opening, a lid configured to cover the opening, and a tissue cutter. The tissue cutter includes a shaft and a blade assembly. The shaft includes a proximal portion that is configured to be rotated and a distal portion extending into the chamber when the tissue mincer is assembled. The distal portion is coupled to the blade assembly. The blade assembly includes a first disk, at least one blade spaced from the distal portion of the shaft by the first disk, and a disk retainer that encloses at least a portion of the blade.
