Patent number: 10487626Abstract: A fracturing valve comprising a tubular mandrel having a through bore continuous with a tubing string, and a frac window through the side of the tubular mandrel. An outer sleeve is radially disposed around the tubular mandrel. The outer sleeve includes a sleeve port in a sidewall. The tubular mandrel slides relative to the sleeve by application and release of set down weight on a coiled tubing string. When the valve is closed, there is no fluid communication from the tubing string out of the frac window. When the valve is open, fluid communication from the tubing string is enabled. The valve may be installed in a downhole tool having a perforation device. The tool string can be used with one sealing element as the tool is pulled up the hole isolating lower perforations, or with two sealing elements to allow pin-point treatments isolating perforations both up and downhole.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 2018Date of Patent: November 26, 2019Assignee: NCS Multistage, Inc.Inventors: Donald Getzlaf, John Ravensbergen, Douglas James Brunskill, Shawn Leggett

Patent number: 9033003Abstract: A device for vibrating tubing as it is inserted into a wellbore is disclosed. The device has a fluidic switch that has no moving parts. The fluidic switch is connected to a piston that oscillates back and forth in a cylinder. The piston is the only moving part. As the piston oscillates, it blocks and unblocks openings in the cylinder or other components. The movement of the piston controls the timing of the oscillation, and also generates an impulse or vibration. The vibration may reduce the friction between the tubing and the wellbore.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 2012Date of Patent: May 19, 2015Assignee: BAKER HUGHES INCORPORATEDInventors: Robert Standen, Douglas James Brunskill

Publication number: 20150013982Abstract: A downhole tool capable of performing both perforating and fracturing operations has a valve portion comprising a tubular mandrel having a through bore continuous with a tubing string, and a frac window through the side of the tubular mandrel. When the valve is open, fluid communication from the tubing string through the aligned window and port is enabled. The valve may be installed in a downhole tool having a perforation device, allowing fracturing to be carried out following perforation without the need to trip the tool between fracturing and perforating operations.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 1, 2014Publication date: January 15, 2015Inventors: Donald Getzlaf, John Ravensbergen, Douglas James Brunskill
