  • Patent number: 7861509
Abstract: Methods and systems of operating an integrated gasification combined cycle system are provided. The method includes coupling a non-fuel fluid conduit to a fuel conduit, warming a flow of non-fuel fluid, and channeling the warmed non-fuel fluid through the fuel conduit such that heat from the warmed non-fuel fluid heats the fuel conduit to a predetermined temperature.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 23, 2007
Date of Patent: January 4, 2011
    Assignee: General Electric Company
Inventors: Fredric S. Russ, Douglas K. Holland, Christopher J. Villa, Jerrold S. Kassman, Eileen T. Nguyen, Matthew C. Prater

  • Patent number: 5183478
Abstract: Quenched slag discharged from a gasification process such as a coal gasification process can be continually dewatered and removed without disrupting operations by alternately discharging the quenched slag from means such as lockhoppers and directing the slag to one of two disengagement zones symmetrically arranged on either side of a clear water pit. The slag settles along a sloping active disengagement zone, allowing water to separate and drain into an adjacent slag pit. The accumulated water is drained into the clear water pit through vertically-spaced drains in the walls separating the slag pits from the clear water pit and pumped away after solids have settled. After an active disengagement zone-slag pit is used for a period of time, perhaps 24 hours, the discharge of slag is redirected to the other such area while dewatered slag is removed from the first slag pit.

  • Patent number: 5140911
Abstract: A car shaker for use particularly on a rail type hopper car. At least one closure and preferably a plurality thereof is provided to preclude or minimize the amount of dust which results from a dust carrying cargo being discharged. The at least one closure rests on the top of the hopper car to preclude coal dust entering the atmosphere. The car shaker is further provided with an aspiration system to draw away cargo dust which has been wetted by water sprays from a manifold carried on the closures.
