    Abstract: A system and method for processing a request for a CIU (card issuance unit), and embossing the CIU for a cardholder. A CIU is a credit card, smart card, phone card or the like. The system processes a CIU request from receipt through embossment until the CIU is sent to the client. When received, the CIU request contains initial account information about the cardholder. The system creates a shell having a record of the initial information. When the record is selected, a CIU is embossed for the selected record. If updated account information which changes the initial record is received, the CIU is completed with the updated account information. Further, the CIU is fulfilled when a production facility has the capability to fulfill all of the selected records. A status update interface is provided for tracking the CIU through the production process.
