  • Patent number: 5328073
Abstract: A film registration and ironing gate assembly has a gate with a positioning location or aperture for focal positioning of an image frame of a strip film with edge perforations. Undersized first and second pins enter a pair of transversely aligned perforations of the film to register the image frame with the aperture. An undersized third pin enters a third perforation spaced along the film from the second pin and then pulls the film obliquely to a reference line extending between the first and second pins to nest against the first and second pins the perforations thereat and register the image frame precisely at the positioning location or aperture. A pair of flexible bands extending along the film edges adjacent the positioning location move progressively into incrementally increasing contact with the film to iron it and clamp its perforations against the gate. The pins register the image frame precisely with the positioning location, and the bands maintain the image frame in precise focal position thereat.

  • Patent number: 5237348
Abstract: Positioning of a scan line (L) relative to a recording medium drum (15) of a polygon printer is established by independently adjusting blocks (35, 36) mounted on a scan line generating optics module (10) through adjustments made to an external beam sensing fixture (52). Inverted V-notches (38) used for nesting the blocks (35, 36) onto cylindrical surfaces of drum bearings (33) are nested onto corresponding cylindrical surfaces of fixture ends (54, 55). X, z, .theta..sub.x and .theta..sub.z positions are then set by x and z direction adjustment screws (44, 45, 49, 50) mounted on a support structure (73) to make adjustments in the fixture positions against the bias of springs (100). Clamping screws (45, 46) pass through oversized holes (47, 48) on blocks (35, 36) to releasably lock blocks (35, 36) after adjustment. The z direction adjustment includes levers (85) and dual ball socket assemblies (95, 96, 97) so that adjustment of the .theta..sub.

  • Patent number: 5019864
Abstract: A film core for an electrophotographic copying or printing machine comprises a core frame member provided at opposite ends with rollers, such frame member being slightly flexible about a steering axis of one of said rollers, to allow pivotal movement of that roller about the steering axis, but being substantially rigid against any other relative pivotal or translational movement between the ends of the core frame by which the rollers are supported.
