Patent number: 12017093Abstract: Methods and systems confirm the treatment focus location of ultrasound energy to be delivered to a patient from a plurality of transducers. The location of focus of treatment ultrasound may be confirmed prior to the start of ultrasound therapy. In some embodiments, ultrasound therapy may comprise delivering treatment ultrasound energy from the treatment ultrasound transducers through the skull to the brain of a patient. Methods for confirming the treatment ultrasound focus location comprise determining receive focus profiles ?x,vi for particular candidate three-dimensional (3D) treatment focus locations and particular assumed ultrasound propagation velocity profiles; performing a pre-treatment (e.g. low-power) ultrasound transmission into the brain of the patient; receiving return signals; and determining the location of treatment focus based at least in part on the received return signals and the receive focus profiles ?x,vi.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 2023Date of Patent: June 25, 2024Assignee: Cordance Medical Inc.Inventors: Bhaskar S. Patent number: 10586028Abstract: An apparatus, comprising a biometric fingerprint identification sensor, the biometric fingerprint identification sensor configured to receive an input from a user, the input corresponding to a-predetermined factor, the predetermined factor comprising a force applied by a finger of the user to the biometric fingerprint identification sensor. A connected computer processor determines a qualitative or quantitative threshold based on the predetermined factor, receive the input from the fingerprint identification sensor, calculate a value of a variable associated with the predetermined factor and the input, and trigger a feedback output when the value approaches the threshold within a margin. A connected haptic feedback is device configured to provide haptic feedback to the body of the user when the haptic feedback device receives the triggered feedback output from the computer processor indicating the value is within the margin of the predetermined threshold.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 2014Date of Patent: March 10, 2020Assignee: Purdue Research FoundationInventors: Stephen John Elliott, Kevin James O'Connor, Colin Robert Patterson, Andrew Douglas Marshall, Matthew Wayne Sprau

Patent number: 8946972Abstract: A multi-layer transducer operates with only one system channel per element. Passive switching connects the layers differently for transmit than for receive operation, such as connecting two layers in parallel for transmit and in series for receive. Any passive switching may be used, such as current and voltage limiting circuits. Tuning may be passively switched. Different tuning circuits are passively switched as a function of voltage level between transmit and receive operations.Type: GrantFiled: August 16, 2006Date of Patent: February 3, 2015Assignee: Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc.Inventors: John Douglas Marshall, Jian-Hua Mo, Kutay F. Patent number: 7481577Abstract: Ultrasound transducer temperatures are measured in response to a temperature dependent property of the ultrasound transducer. The temperature is measured without addition of new electronics or hardware retrofits of the transducer. By implementing software and/or hardware on the ultrasound system rather than the transducer, the temperature is measured in order to provide a level of fault protection. The upgraded or new ultrasound system uses either old or new transducers while still providing temperature measurement. For example, the temperature of the lens or window is measured as a function of changes in attenuation or acoustic velocity. The receive beamformer already implemented on many ultrasound systems is used to measure a temperature dependent property of the lens or window. As another example, the dielectric constant or capacitance of one or more transducer elements is measured using additional hardware in the ultrasound system.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 2006Date of Patent: January 27, 2009Assignee: Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc.Inventors: Bhaskar Ramamurthy, John Douglas Marshall, Jan-Ulco Kluiwstra
