    Abstract: An improved fire seal comprises: an elongated flexible carrier incorporating structure for affixing the seal in a gap between opposing surfaces; a resilient cellular core; a bead of intumescent material; a flexible outer protective liner covering the cellular core and the intumescent bead; and, a remotely actuatable heat source disposed in the seal for activating the intumescent material responsive to a remotely generated signal, whereby the gap may be sealed by expansion of the intumescent material responsive to an alarm condition in a location remote from the gap.
