  • Patent number: 11580619
Abstract: A compositor receives, from each of a plurality of originating devices, compressed and/or encrypted image data portions of a frame of image data, together with portion metadata for each of the compressed and/or encrypted image data portions. Frame metadata for the frame of image data. The compositor then composites the image data portions without decompressing and/or decrypting them, based on the portion and frame metadata, by generating composited frame metadata for the composited image frame and amending the portion metadata for each of the compressed and/or encrypted image data portions to indicate a location of the compressed and/or encrypted image data portions in the composited image frame. The compressed and/or encrypted image data portions, the composited frame metadata and the amended portion metadata are then transmitted by the compositor to a display control device.

  • Patent number: 11164545
Abstract: A method involves receiving, at a host device, information indicative of available bandwidth on a variable bandwidth connection between the host device and a display control device, which may be based on monitoring a signal level on the connection, a link radio modulation mode, traffic on the connection, or the data rate of any return signals from the display control device. The method includes setting one or more parameters used to generate the display data that change compressibility of the display data based on the information, where compressibility of the display data affects efficiency of compression of the display data, and where the setting of the parameters may be based on a compression algorithm used when compressing the display data. The method includes generating the display data using the one or more parameters, compressing the display data, and transmitting the display data to the display control device.

  • Patent number: 11120775
Abstract: A method for compositing display data at a remote device to form an image for display involves the remote device receiving (S62) elements of the image, where the image includes display data forming a background layer, display elements forming a foreground layers and an overlay data layer. The remote device receives (S63) sensor information indicating one or more of a position of an eye of a viewer, a direction of focus of the eye of the viewer, and/or a position of a display. It then determines (S64) movement of a line of sight between the eye of the viewer and the display, determines an estimate of a future position of the line of sight at a future time based on the determined movement of the line of sight, and determines (S65) an adjustment to be made to the image based on the future position of the line of sight.

  • Patent number: 10585815
Abstract: A method of controlling a wireless docking station, which has one or more peripheral devices connected thereto, which are controllable from a mobile device when the mobile device is docked with the wireless docking station. The method involves receiving (S41) a sensing signal indicating that a user is proximate the peripheral device(s) and detecting (S42) that a mobile device is within a predetermined range of the wireless docking station. An identification of the mobile device is determined and the user is requested (S43) to confirm that the user wants to dock the mobile device having the identification with the wireless docking station. When a confirmation signal (S44) is received, an authentication of the mobile device having the identification is permitted to be performed whereby the mobile device having the identification is docked (S47) with the wireless docking station if the authentication is successful.

  • Patent number: 10453424
Abstract: An apparatus for co-ordinating display data sent to a display device includes two or more panels or sub-displays together forming a single display screen for displaying at least one complete image. Each display panel has a display input for receiving display data of part of the complete image from a corresponding display output of a display control device. The display control device receives, from a host device, packets of display data destined for one of the display panels. The display control device directs the packets to one or more processors in the display control device for processing and storing the display data in a respective buffer according to which respective display panel the display data is destined for. The processed display data is output from the buffers at a synchronized time to the display output corresponding to the respective display panel for which the display data is destined.

  • Publication number: 20180253155
Abstract: A method of communication between a human interface device, HID, and a mobile device (11) involves operating, on the mobile device (11), an operating system (21) providing an execution space for applications and operating a user application (22) in the execution space, where the user application (22) operates independently of the operating system (21). The user application (22) controls a communication interface (23) of the mobile device (11) via a private interface (27) that is not accessible to the operating system (21). Image data for display on an external display device (13), connected to the communication interface (23), is packaged as general-purpose data. Other HIDs (14, 15) can be connected to the communication interface (23), and controlled by the user application (22). In this way the operating system (21) does not require any drivers for the HIDs (14, 15) that are connected to the mobile device (11) via the communication interface (23).

  • Publication number: 20170371373
Abstract: A computing device may have a number of ports that can be connected to different peripheral devices and the availability, capability and/or functionality available through different ports may change depending on a mode of operation of the computing device. A user will not generally be aware of which ports can be used as they are all, in theory, available and the usability of an individual port is likely to change if a different host device is connected to the docking station or according to the mode the computing device is operating in. This is especially the case if the ports can all accept the same plug, for example, a USB Type-C plug.

  • Patent number: 8122277
Abstract: In one embodiment, a clock distribution chip includes a clock input adapted to receive an input clock signal, clock dividers each adapted to receive a clock signal based on the first input clock signal and to generate a divided clock signal, and programmable clock outputs adapted to provide output clock signals. The clock outputs are configurable to support a number of signaling standards. A programmable switch fabric is coupled between the clock dividers and the clock outputs and is configurable to provide the divided clock signals to the clock outputs.

  • Patent number: 8112656
Abstract: In one embodiment, a clock distribution chip includes a first clock input adapted to receive a first single-ended input clock signal, a second clock input adapted to receive a second single-ended input clock signal, and input buffer circuitry coupled to the first and second clock inputs. The input buffer circuitry is adapted to select an input clock signal among the first single-ended input clock signal, the second single-ended input clock signal, and a differential input clock signal derived from the first and second single-ended input clock signals. A phase-locked loop (PLL) is adapted to receive an input clock signal selected by the input buffer circuitry and to generate a PLL clock signal based on the selected input clock signal. A clock output provides an output clock signal based on the PLL clock signal.

  • Publication number: 20050198547
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided to power-up a device having both digital and analog circuitry. The analog circuitry requires a stabilization period before proper operation. During power-up, the digital circuitry is held in reset by a power-on reset circuit. The power-on reset circuit releases the reset after the expiration of a power-on reset period. During the period of time after expiration of the power-on reset period and before the analog circuitry reaches equilibrium, the digital circuitry operates in a mode that does not require input signals from the analog circuitry. After the analog circuitry has reached equilibrium, the digital circuitry begins normal operation during which inputs signals from the analog circuitry may be processed by the digital circuitry.
