Patent number: 11788581Abstract: A bearing unit is provided with a strain element for torque detection. The strain element is provided with a first annular part attached to a rotation-side member, a second annular part attached to a load-side member, and a plurality of ribs serving as strained parts linking the first annular part and the second annular part together. One of an inner race and an outer race is integrally formed on the first annular part of the strain element. Deformation, which occurs in the ribs of the strain element due to torque exerted on the rotation-side member from the load-side member, is detected by a strain gauge, etc., and converted to torque. The strain element for torque detection can be incorporated into a motor, a reducer, or another rotary propulsion unit without the need for a dedicated installation space and without the need for fastening fittings, etc.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 2020Date of Patent: October 17, 2023Assignee: HARMONIC DRIVE SYSTEMS INC.Inventors: Yuki Kato, Douglas Olson, Brian Coyne

Publication number: 20210035226Abstract: In an illustrative embodiment, an automated system performs a multi-level risk exposure analysis for geographic locations, such as property locations. The system may include computing systems and devices for calculating, for locations in a portfolio, risk exposure amounts for an area that includes an insured location and including an analysis radius and identifying regions of interest having risk exposure amounts that exceed predetermined amounts due to combined exposure from a portion of the insured locations. The system may generate a grid of intermediate points that is applied to each region of interest. The system may calculate amounts of risk exposure for each of the intermediate points and retain any intermediate points with risk exposure amounts that exceed the amounts for the insured locations. The system may output a risk exposure analysis based on the risk exposure amounts for the insured locations and intermediate points of interest.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 29, 2020Publication date: February 4, 2021Applicant: Aon Global Operations plc, Singapore BranchInventors: Kirk William Dybvik, Douglas Olson

Publication number: 20070130501Abstract: Apparatus and methods implementing a technique for creating an electronic artwork with a hot area. For a selected layer of the artwork, a non-transparent region is identified and an action is assigned to an area corresponding to the non-transparent region, the action defining a function that will be activated when the area is selected. The technique is advantageous in computer application programs that composite images from layers and for producing HTML (HyperText Markup Language) output that refers to a corresponding composited image, where the action is a URL and the area is defined by an image map.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 20, 2006Publication date: June 7, 2007Applicant: ADOBE SYSTEMS INCORPORATEDInventors: Jeffrey Michaud, Douglas Olson

Publication number: 20070106781Abstract: A logistics node receives a purchase order from a customer. The logistics node selects an appropriate carrier to transport products specified in the purchase order and conveys shipping instructions to the selected carrier. The logistics node also coordinates the shipment by interacting with a source node (associated with a supplier of the products) and a destination node (associated with the recipient of the products). According to one exemplary feature, the logistics node provides an interface that permits users involved in the distribution chain to track the status of the shipments without having to enter tracking codes that are unique to individual carriers. According to another exemplary feature, the interface allows a user to access multiple “levels” of information regarding a shipment, including information pertaining to an individual product within a shipment containing multiple products.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 12, 2006Publication date: May 10, 2007Applicant: Schneider Logistics, Inc.Inventors: Brian Hancock, Douglas Olson, Robert Schommer
