  • Publication number: 20070163220
Abstract: A system and apparatus for controlling height of a header of a work machine such as an agricultural windrowing machine or a harvesting machine, which includes height control cylinders jointly or individually operable for raising or lowering the opposite ends of a header to achieve a desired overall height or angle of tilt in relation to the surface of a field or pasture to be cut, and which allow the header to be raised, and lowered to the previously selected cut height, without changing the lengths of the cylinders, so as to be usable in combination with an optional header lift and/or float system.
    Type: Application
    Filed: January 13, 2006
    Publication date: July 19, 2007
    Inventors: Philip Ehrhart, Douglas Otto
  • Publication number: 20070012010
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling the flotation system of an agricultural harvesting machine such as a windrower, wherein the system is programmed to be automatically operable for entering a header remove mode when operating conditions indicate an intent to remove the header, which conditions can be, for instance, the setting or a flotation force value for the system to zero or near zero, and which will automatically exit the header remove mode when conditions indicate an intent to return to normal operation, for instance, when a flotation force is increased to at least a predetermined value.
    Type: Application
    Filed: July 14, 2006
    Publication date: January 18, 2007
    Inventors: Douglas Otto, Robert Fackler
  • Publication number: 20070012008
Abstract: A control system for the header flotation and lift hydraulics of an agricultural windrower that manages the effective and efficient removal of the header.
    Type: Application
    Filed: December 13, 2005
    Publication date: January 18, 2007
Inventors: Robert Fackler, Charles Hoffman, Douglas Otto
  • Publication number: 20060254239
Abstract: A system and method for managing the electrical control system of a header flotation and lift system of an agricultural harvesting machine, particularly one using only once fluid cylinder in connection with each respective side of the header, which system and method, in addition to executing header raise and lower commands, provides several automatically executable operating modes for the flotation and lift system, including a wake-up mode; a normal mode, which can include float; a charge accumulator mode; a transport mode; and a header remove mode, and the ability to seamlessly and easily transition between the modes.
    Type: Application
    Filed: July 14, 2006
    Publication date: November 16, 2006
Inventors: Robert Fackler, Douglas Otto, Charles Hoffman
  • Publication number: 20060248868
Abstract: A method and apparatus for automatically controlling a header lift system of an agricultural harvesting machine, particularly a windrower, to put a header of the machine into a transport mode wherein the header is raised to an elevated transport position, under certain specific conditions. Such conditions can include, but are not limited to, the machine operating in a high-speed range, the header not operating, the speed of the machine being above a predetermined level, and the last inputted control command being a header raise command. When in the transport mode, the lift system can also be operated in a float mode. Further, the header lift system can be returned to a normal mode when certain criteria are present for doing so.
    Type: Application
    Filed: July 11, 2006
    Publication date: November 9, 2006
Inventors: Douglas Otto, Sean Kopp, Robert Fackler
  • Publication number: 20060144028
Abstract: A hydraulic lift/flotation system for the header of a crop harvesting machine wherein each side of the header is supported by a single cylinder, which performs both the flotation and lift functions. For even lifting and flotation of an unbalanced header, each cylinder has its own control valve, pump, and accumulator. The operator sets the desired flotation force by actuating rocker switches; one switch position allows hydraulic oil to enter an accumulator to reduce header contact force with the ground. The other position allows oil to exit the accumulator to increase header contact force with the ground. To evenly float an unbalanced header, separate switches adjust each side independently. Once the flotation forces are set, the control valves will return to this preset flotation condition whenever float mode is selected, regardless of subsequent header lift and lower operations.

  • Publication number: 20060089772
Abstract: A neutral start interlock for a hydrostatic drive system that uses potentiometers to electronically monitor at least the position of the hydrostatic displacement control such that the engine will not start unless such control is in the neutral position.
    Type: Application
