    Abstract: This invention relates to a chlorinated polyamide resin useful for water purification. The resin of this invention is produced by first reacting urea or melamine or a mixture of both with paraformaldehyde and then subjecting this product to chlorination. The chlorinated resin so produced can be used for treatment of drinking water and swimming pools and represents an improvement over prior art methods.
