  • Publication number: 20140266986
Abstract: A head mounted display device includes a structural frame arranged generally along a X-axis and a Y-axis for viewing along a Z-axis, the X, Y, and Z axes being mutually perpendicular. A micro-display is coupled to the structural frame, and configured to project visual content in a substantially forward direction along the Z-axis away from a user. A group of one or more optical elements with reflective optical surfaces is coupled to the structural frame and respectively positioned on a front side of the micro-display to reflectively guide a light ray bundle in a non-pupil forming optical path from the micro-display to a user's eye to provide an image to the user's eye such that the light rays of the light ray bundle entering the user's eye are essentially parallel to make the image visible to the user with varied positions of the user's pupil.

  • Patent number: 8781833
Abstract: An automated method is described for developing an automated speech input semantic classification system such as a call routing system. A set of semantic classifications is defined for classification of input speech utterances, where each semantic classification represents a specific semantic classification of the speech input. The semantic classification system is trained from training data having little or no in-domain manually transcribed training data, and then operated to assign input speech utterances to the defined semantic classifications. Adaptation training data based on input speech utterances is collected with manually assigned semantic labels. When the adaptation training data satisfies a pre-determined adaptation criteria, the semantic classification system is automatically retrained based on the adaptation training data.

  • Patent number: 8523143
Abstract: A detachable fluid coupling for connecting an inkjet printhead with an ink supply, the detachable coupling having a fixed valve member defining a valve seat, a sealing collar (146) for sealing engagement with the valve seat (148), a resilient sleeve (126) having one annular end fixed relative to the fixed valve member (128), and the other annular end engaging the sealing collar to bias it into sealing engagement with the valve seat. The coupling also having a conduit opening (150) that is movable relative to the fixed valve member for engaging the sealing collar (146) to unseal it from the valve seat. Unsealing the sealing collar from the valve seat compresses the resilient sleeve (126) such that an intermediate section of the sleeve displaces outwardly relative to the annular ends. With a resilient sleeve that buckles or folds outwardly, the diameter of the coupling is smaller that the conventional couplings that use an annular resilient element that biases the valve shut remaining residual tension.

  • Patent number: 8500244
Abstract: A structure for an inkjet printhead is disclosed. The printhead structure has an elongate support structure for supporting a printhead integrated circuit, and ink conduits formed in the elongate support structure for supplying ink to an array of nozzles of the printhead integrated circuit. Each ink conduit includes cavities distributed along a roof of the ink conduit. An opening to each cavity has an upstream edge and a downstream edge. The upstream edge contacts the ink before the downstream edge during initial priming of the ink conduits from an ink supply. The upstream edge has a transition face between the ink conduit and the cavity interior, the transition face being configured to inhibit ink from filling the cavity by capillary action during initial priming of the ink conduit. This causes gas to be trapped within the cavity. The gas acts to compress pressure pulses in the ink.

  • Publication number: 20130085866
Abstract: A floating messaging icon moves in a straight line, curved line or zig zag movement pattern over stationary icons present on the display of a smartphone or tablet having Internet and GPS connectivity. Touching the moving floating messaging icon selects the icon. • Publication number: 20130021408
Abstract: A method of minimizing ink consumption during printhead priming in an inkjet printer. The printhead has a nozzle face defining an array of nozzles for ejecting ink on to a media substrate. The method includes the steps of: providing a porous pad having a contact face dimensioned so that it can encompass all the nozzles in the array; moving the porous pad such that the contact face engages the nozzle face to cover the array of nozzles; forcing ink into the printhead under pressure until ink flows out the nozzles in the array and into the porous pad engaged with the nozzle face; and withdrawing the porous pad such that the contact face disengages the nozzle face.

  • Patent number: 8239203
Abstract: Adjusting confidence score thresholds is described for a speech recognition engine. The speech recognition engine is implemented in multiple computer processes functioning in a computer processor, and is characterized by an associated receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. A results confirmation process interprets user confirmation of speech recognition results within a given confidence score threshold to create a confirmed portion of the ROC curve for the speech recognition engine. A curve extension process extends the confirmed portion of the ROC curve by extrapolation of unconfirmed speech recognition results beyond the confidence score threshold to generate an extended ROC curve. A threshold adjustment process adjusts the confidence score threshold based on the extended ROC curve to meet target operating constraints for operating the speech recognition engine to perform automatic speech recognition of user speech inputs.
