  • Patent number: 10519389
Abstract: The present invention provides integrated bunker storage systems for waste streams based on the composition and characteristics of waste streams. In particular, the present invention provides a process for generating individual waste streams based on a set of material characteristics. According to the system and method of the present invention, individual waste streams from wastes stored in bunkers are mixed in a given feed ratio to generate a feed stock that will produce a desired output from a chemical conversion process, e.g., gasification. Optionally, composition data regarding the feed stock can be certified to a third party.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 21, 2017
Date of Patent: December 31, 2019
    Assignee: Accordant Energy, LLC
Inventors: James W. Bohlig, Douglas R. Casella

In particular, the present invention provides a process for generating individual waste streams based on a set of material characteristics. According to the system and method of the present invention, individual waste streams from wastes stored in bunkers are mixed in a given feed ratio to generate a food stock that will produce a desired output from a chemical conversion process, e.g., gasification. Optionally, composition data regarding the fed stock can be certified to a third party.

  • Patent number: 8287625
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention are directed to systems and methods for treating landfill gas using landfill leachate. In one embodiment of the present invention, a method includes receiving landfill leachate from at least one of a plurality of sources, and pretreating the landfill leachate to adjust at least one chemical property of at least one component of the landfill leachate. The leachate contacts landfill gas, so that at least one component of the landfill gas chemically reacts with at least one component of the landfill leachate to form a spent landfill leachate and a treated landfill gas. The method also includes recycling a first portion of the spent landfill leachate, recirculating a second portion of the spent landfill leachate to at least one of the plurality of sources, and subjecting the treated landfill gas to flare.

  • Publication number: 20100222917
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for tagging complex products for use in the identification and, optionally, segregation of the components therein. In particular, the present invention provides techniques for identifying products included in a mixed waste stream based on its product type or on the materials of which the product is comprised. According to the system and method of the present invention, if the product type or its material of construction are designated for removal from the mixed waste stream, the product is segregated, thereby enabling exclusion of such products and materials from an optimum fuel created from the remaining items in the mixed waste stream.
