  • Publication number: 20030131943
Abstract: An apparatus and method for assembling absorbent garments are disclosed. The apparatus has a passage, which may be internal or external, having an upstream end and a downstream end. One or more orifices are positioned to provide a flow of air towards the downstream end of the passage. A series of parts is provided to the upstream end of the passage at a first spacing and velocity. As the parts travel along the passage, the air flow increases the spacing between the parts and the velocity of the parts to a second spacing and second velocity. The flow of air through the orifice or orifices may be regulated to control the second spacing and second velocity of the parts. The apparatus may be used to assemble parts onto a moving substrate positioned near the downstream end of the passage.
