  • Publication number: 20050046303
Abstract: The Stationary Armature Machine (SAM) comprised of a stationary armature, a stationary commutator affixed to the frame or housing and a rotating field and brushes affixed to a common shaft as a means for mechanical commutation of electrical currents based on Lorentz' force law. SAM's unique stationary armature increases current carrying capacity and heat abatement at low voltages and high rotating speeds without increasing overall physical size relative to BLDC motors. SAM's armature and field structure are arranged in reverse having the armature in a stationary position with a commutation assembly affixed to the machine's housing while said field structure (and brush assembly) rotate at the center of the machine. By making the armature and commutator assembly stationary, the current carrying conductors can be made much larger without being subjected to extreme centrifugal forces at high rotating velocities.

  • Publication number: 20050025482
Abstract: A monitoring system is described that is comprised of a processing system and a database system. The database system is configured to store identities for a plurality of channels in the communication network. The processing system identifies an error on a first channel of the plurality of channels. The processing system identifies a second channel of the plurality of channels that is adjacent to the first channel based on the database system and determines if an error occurs on the second channel. The processing system identifies a third channel of the plurality of channels based on database system and determines if an error occurs on the third channel. The processing system identifies polarization-mode dispersion based on determining the error occurs on the second channel and determining the error does not occur on the third channel.

  • Publication number: 20040212628
Abstract: Methods and-apparatus implementing a technique for forming a trap polygon which does not interfere with the print quality of other trap polygons or objects. Edges in close proximity to a color transition edge (“CTE”) are checked for potential interference. A trap polygon is formed for the CTE that avoids any interfering edges or trap polygons for those edges. The technique can be applied to form a trap polygon for each edge in a page to be printed.

  • Patent number: 6775106
Abstract: An improved E-block for positioning one or more transducer assemblies proximate one or more rotating storage disks of a disk drive is provided herein. The E-block includes an actuator hub and one or more actuator arms which cantilever away from the actuator hub for holding the transducer assemblies proximate the rotating storage disks. As provided herein, at least one of the actuator arms is a depopulated actuator arm which retains less than two transducer assemblies. Each depopulated actuator arm includes at least one, weighted segment integrally formed into the depopulated actuator arm. Further, each depopulated actuator arm has an arm thickness which is less than an arm thickness for a double head actuator arm. The weighted segment and the reduced arm thickness allow the depopulated actuator arm(s) to vibrate similar to a populated actuator arm(s). This allows the disk drive to be designed and tuned to improve fragility and resonance characteristics of the E-block.

  • Patent number: 6707417
Abstract: A radar system having a tactical mode and a calibration mode includes a transmitter section for providing high-power amplification of an RF pulsed waveform from an exciter during the tactical mode and the calibration mode. A circulator system has an input port connected to an output of the transmitter section and including first, second and third switchable junctions, and a high-power attenuator. The circulator system provides a transmit tactical mode signal path and a transmit calibration mode signal path of virtually identical electrical path lengths for a transmitter output signal, the tactical path passing through the first, second and third junctions in a first direction to an antenna I/O port, the calibration path passing through the first, second and third junctions in a second direction and through the high-power attenuator to an output port.

  • Patent number: 6636329
Abstract: A software architecture for printing to a home printer via a cable television communication network includes complementary clients and servers executing on each of the internet components participating in the internet-based printing. A client executes at the remote internet-based site that originates the print job, and transmits the print job to a complimentary server at the cable head end. A server at the cable head end spools the print job and preferably converts the print job into a format more suitable for a next-downstream device, such as a cable set top box. The cable head end further includes a client which transmits the print job from the cable head end's server to a server at the set top box. The server at the set top box spools the print job to an attached printer.

  • Patent number: 5065843
Abstract: The working platform is set up on the highest floor slab in a building being erected so as to cover the elevator hoistway. Extensible finger beams serve to position the platform properly over the hoistway. The platform serves as a template for rail plumb lines and landing door assemblies, and carries winches which are used to lift the rails and door assemblies into place in the hoistway. A false car is suspended in the hoistway below the platform and runs up and down in the hoistway on a hoisting rope. Workers use the false car to install rails and landing door assemblies which have been lifted into place by the winches on the working platform.
