Abstract: A system and method is described for editing, in its native application, a source file of an object or image in a first application, wherein the source file includes computer-readable code or script associated with the source file and editable in either the first or native applications. The first application graphically displays an edit option selectable by the user to launch the source file's native application. The native application opens the source file and code or script associated with the object or image in the first application. Within the workspace of the native application edit session, an end function or button is displayed to the user. Upon selection of the end function in the native application, the native application automatically saves the edited source file and associated code or script, sends the edited data to the first or calling application which then automatically reintegrates the edited source file and any edited script or code into the object or image associated therewith.

Abstract: A graphical user interface allows a user to create an image having a pop-up menu which is exportable to a target computer without the creating user being required to know how to program in JAVASCRIPT™. Using menu selection in the application in which the image is running, the creating user may insert a pop-up menu instruction associated with an object and positioned at a desired location within the image. The inserted pop-up menu instruction then causes the creating computer to invoke its own routines that construct an exportable JAVASCRIPT™ file that allows for a pop-up menu associated with the desired object to be displayed on the screen of a target system.

Abstract: A system for intuitively associating behaviors with objects. The script or code defining those behaviors may then be automatically generated. The generated script or code is downloadable to a client system. The intuitiveness may involve gestures, such as dragging and dropping, between a source object and itself or between a source object and a destination object, that preferably assigns a behavioral association with objects without the requirement of knowing any specific programming or scripting language.

Abstract: The inventive mechanisms convert a path, which represents a graphical object, into a plurality of line segments. Thus, the path can be reshaped without respect to existing Bezier control points. The first mechanism allows a user to ‘pull’ a segment of a path. A user selects a specific place on the path, pulls the selected place along with a portion of the path on either side of the place to a desired location. The second mechanism allows a user to ‘push’ a segment of a path, by using an arbitrary shape and sculpting the path. The arbitrary shape is used in a manner similar in which a sculptor would use a putty knife and sculpts away part of the path, by pushing that shape into the path. The path is being repelled from the shape, as the shape is being pushed. The third mechanism allows a user to reshape an area or region of the path. The user selects a specific point in space and modify any parts of the path that lie within that region of space.
