  • Publication number: 20120125758
Abstract: A process for the pyrolysis of at least one material includes: introducing the material into a pressurized rotary retort system, heating the material in the pressurized rotary retort system within a desired temperature range and within a desired pressure range for a desired period of time; and, advancing the heated and pressurized material from a first end to a second end of the pressurized rotary retort by rotating the pressurized retort about its longitudinal axis; where at least a quantity of the material is converted into one or more end products. Also the system generally includes: a pressurized rotary retort system configured for producing at least one gaseous product from pyrolysis of material, and having a pressurized furnace vessel and a retort positioned within the pressurized furnace vessel; and; a solids reactor system operatively connected to the rotary retort for receiving material from the pressurized rotary retort system.

  • Patent number: 7153127
Abstract: A mold system for blow molding hollow plastic containers includes an extruder for providing a hollow tube of plastic material having a longitudinal axis. Three mold segments include at least two mold segments that are movable against the third mold segment, in directions perpendicular to the tube axis, between a closed position in which the mold segments form a hollow mold cavity in which the tube is captured and an open position spaced from the tube axis. A blow pin is disposed on one of the mold segments to pierce the tube in the closed position of the mold segments. One of the mold segments may be a mold core movably mounted on a second of the mold segments, and cylinders are mounted on the second mold segment for moving the mold core between an extended position and a retracted position with respect to the second mold segment. The blow pin may be movably mounted on the mold core.

  • Patent number: 6209762
Abstract: A container assembly that includes a container having a body with a cylindrical neck and an integral lug projecting radially inwardly from the neck. A fitment has a cylindrical wall adapted to be received within the container neck. The fitment wall has internal threads for receiving a container cap, and an axial slot adapted to be received by snap fit over the lug in the container neck. The neck lug thus cooperates with the slot in the fitment wall for both retaining the fitment axially within the neck, and preventing circumferential rotation of the fitment within the neck. The fitment and cap are provided to a packager as a subassembly separate from the container. The container is rapidly filled with product through the relatively large opening in the container neck, and the cap/fitment subassembly is then snapped into the container neck to complete the package assembly.

  • Patent number: 6171542
Abstract: Wheel molding apparatus for molding thermoplastic containers or other articles, the apparatus having a multiplicity of sets (10) of opposed, separable radially aligned mold halves (12, 14) that travel in a circular path about a horizontal axis. The inner of the mold halves (14) is separated from the outer of the mold halves (12) at the 12:00 o'clock position of the mold set that includes such mold halves to permit the molded article to be ejected from the mold set. However, the ejection of the molded article should not take place until after the separation of the mold halves, and this requires that the molded article be positively retained within the outer mold half until it is desired to eject the article therefrom.

  • Patent number: 5941422
Abstract: A combined drain back spout (DBS) fitment and plastic container assembly comprising a plastic container body and finish and a plastic drain back spout fitment having a pour spout connected to a surrounding drain gutter and spill-catching apron. The fitment apron has an integral mounting collar with a radial flange spanning the finish end edge and a collar skirt dependent therefrom and encircling the outer surface of the container finish and being sealably joined thereto by a spin weld joint. The lower free end edge of collar skirt is closely spaced from the juxtaposed surface of the container body, and the collar skirt and finish exterior surface conjointly define an intervening space for receiving, containing and hiding spin weld slag and/or shavings. The finish is corrugated to provide annular external ribs and intervening external grooves to thereby provide sacrificial parent spin weld material in the rib crowns and slag-receiving spaces in the grooves.
