  • Patent number: 9020768
Abstract: A process variable transmitter controls a signal on a communication loop. A diagnostic component on the transmitter compares an expected signal level on the communication loop with an actual value to detect on-scale errors.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 16, 2011
Date of Patent: April 28, 2015
    Assignee: Rosemount Inc.
Inventors: Douglas W. Arntson, Jason H. Rud
  • Patent number: 8390150
Abstract: A field device interface module includes a connector, a plurality of terminals, a protocol interface module, a controller and a power supply module. The connector is configured to operably couple to a computer. The terminals are operably coupleable to a field device. The protocol interface module is coupled to the plurality of terminals and configured to generate signals in accordance with a process communication protocol. A power supply module is coupled to the plurality of terminals. The controller is coupled to the protocol interface module and to the power supply module and is configured to measure a voltage across the plurality of terminals and selectively cause the power supply module to provide power to the field device.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 14, 2009
Date of Patent: March 5, 2013
    Assignee: Fisher-Rosemount Systems, Inc.
Inventors: Daniel E. Vande Vusse, Alden C. Russell, III, Douglas W. Arntson

  • Patent number: 8311778
Abstract: An industrial process control transmitter includes a first input configured to couple to a first sensor, and a second input configured to couple to a second sensor. Measurement circuitry is configured to couple to the first and second sensors and provide an output related to a sensed process variable. A multiplexer is configured to selectively couple the first and second sensors to the measurement circuitry. An equalizer circuit is coupled to the first and second sensors and configured to equalize a voltage potential between the first sensor and the measurement circuitry.

  • Patent number: 7016741
Abstract: A device for use in a process control system includes a first pair of electrical connections configured to couple to a two-wire process control loop. The loop includes a two-wire process variable transmitter. A second pair of electrical connections is configured to couple to an input channel of a process device having multiple input channels. An electrical component is connected in series in the loop for use in digital communication with the two-wire process variable transmitter.
