  • Patent number: 7049903
Abstract: A transition piece for coupling a coaxial transmission line to a printed circuit (PC) transmission line. The transmission line terminates in a conductive pin projecting through a conductive coaxial ground plane. The transition piece consists of a conductive plate which is adapted to be fixed between the coaxial ground plane and a PC ground plane of the PC transmission line. The plate is in electrical contact with both the coaxial and PC ground planes while the conductive pin contacts a conductive strip of the PC transmission line. Furthermore, the plate has an opening which is shaped and aligned with the pin so that a transition-impedance of the transition piece is substantially equal to a line impedance of the coaxial and PC transmission lines.

  • Patent number: 4810981
Abstract: This microwave assembly comprises a pair of microwave components and a stripline connecting device interconnecting the components. Each of the components comprises a conductive carrier defining a ground plane, dielectric material on the conductive carrier, and a conductor on the dielectric material having a projecting end portion. The stripline connecting device comprises: (a) a central conductor having conductive terminal portions at opposite ends thereof for respectively contacting the projecting end portions of the conductors of the microwave components, (b) two sections of dielectric material respectively located at opposite sides of the central conductor, and (c) two housing portions of conductive material defining a ground plane for the connecting device and located at opposite sides of the dielectric sections.

  • Patent number: 4458222
Abstract: An apparatus for coupling a waveguide structure to a printed circuit transmission line connected to a solid state device requiring a DC bias comprising: a hollow waveguide connector; a base mounted onto that connector and supporting the transmission line; a transition element, preferably a coupling ridge, for RF coupling the waveguide connector to the transmission line; a connecting means for feeding the DC bias voltage from an external bias network through the wall of the waveguide connector and the transition element to the transmission line. The connecting means, and the transition element are DC insulated from the other parts of the waveguide connector. The built-in DC bias eliminates the need for biasing networks, RF chokes, filters and DC blocks mounted on the printed circuit.
