  • Patent number: 5141032
Abstract: Rubberless tire bead assemblies are disclosed, containing either a single wire element or multiple wire elements wound about an axis to provide a plurality of convolutions of the single wire or multiple wire elements to provide the bead hoop and shape-retaining members engaging the bead hoop about the circumference of the bead hoop to retain the bead assembly in a planar configuration. Apparatus for forming the rubberless bead assemblies are disclosed which include bead formers and applicator devices for applying shape-retaining components to the formed bead assemblies.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 15, 1991
Date of Patent: August 25, 1992
    Assignee: National-Standard Company

  • Patent number: 4820563
Abstract: Weftless and single wire tire bead assemblies are disclosed where at least one of the termination ends of the weftless layer or of the single wire bead are mechanically deformed or heat treated. Tire bead assemblies are disclosed where a cushion or wedge means is positioned either between the termination end and the body of the bead assemblies are positioned adjacent the termination ends and the body of the bead assembly.

  • Patent number: 4681558
Abstract: A reinforced belt assembly or construction which utilizes a reinforcing material comprised of a reinforcing member portion possessing a high Young's modulus discontinuous throughout the length of the reinforcing material and a carrier member portion extending the length of the reinforcing material. The carrier member portion facilitates transport and winding of the reinforcing material about a forming mandel during manufacture and facilitates cutting of the belt assembly from the cured reinforced sleeve material such that the high Young's modulus member does not emerge from the cut sidewalls of the belt assembly.
