  • Patent number: 11756609
Abstract: The invention describes a memory device which combines a switchable resistive element and a superconductor element electrically in parallel. The switchable resistive element comprises an active material, which is switchable between first and second values of electrical resistivity ?1 and ?2 at the same temperature, wherein ?1 is different to ?2. The superconductor element is operable so that at least part of the superconductor element is switchable from a superconducting state to a non-superconducting state. When the superconductor element is switched from the superconducting state to the non-superconducting state, a current injection is provided through the switchable resistive element capable of switching the switchable resistive element between said first and second values of electrical resistivity.

  • Patent number: 9589631
Abstract: The invention refers to an ultrafast quench based nonvolatile bistable device which consists of an active material on a passive or active substrate which changes its physical properties, after exposure to a sufficiently temporally short external perturbation causing an ultrafast quench. The perturbation can be from an external ultrashort laser pulse or ultrafast electrical pulse from an electrooptic device or any other generator of ultrashort pulses. This change of the materials properties can be detected as a change of optical properties or electrical resistance. The dielectric properties can be reverted back to their original state by the application of a heat pulse applied by an electrical heater within the device or an external laser.

  • Publication number: 20070274895
Abstract: The present Invention relates a quasi-one-dimensional material with sub-micron cross-section described by the formula M6CyHz, where the M=transition metal, C=chalcogen, H=halogen, and where y and z are integers such that 8.2<y+z<10, which materials are synthesized in a Single-step procedure at temperatures above 1000° C. The present invention also concerns the use of these materials in electronic, chemical, optical or mechanical applications.

  • Publication number: 20060231825
Abstract: The present invention pertains to the use of quasi-one-dimensional transition metal ternary compounds MxHyHaz (where M is a transition metal Mo, W, Ta, Nb; H is sulfur (S), selenium (Se), tellurium (Te); Ha is iodine (I)) and of doped quasi-one-dimensional transition metal ternary compounds MxHyHaz, (where M=Ta, Ti, Nb; H is sulfur (S), selenium (Se), tellurium (Te); Ha is iodine (I)) with elements of group 1b (silver) (Ag), gold (Au), or copper (Cu)) as electron emitters under the influence of an external electric field. The percentage of quasi-one-dimensional transition metal ternary compounds doped with elements of group 1b in the active material ranges from 0.01 to 99.9 the rest consisting of additives in the form of conducting, non-conducting or semi-conducting compounds or composites. Electron emission takes place at a pressure below 1 mbar.
