  • Patent number: 7264091
Abstract: A brake assembly for inline skates having a boot portion with right and left downwardly directed frame members. The frame members support at least three axles. Right and left carrier plates are positioned along an inner face of the downwardly directed frame members. At least two diabolos are supported by the right and left carrier plates. The diabolos each contact two wheels and are forced outwardly to provide a friction rubbing action against the carrier plates when the carrier plates have moved from a disengaged position to an engaged position.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 9, 2004
Date of Patent: September 4, 2007

  • Publication number: 20050242658
Abstract: The present disclosure includes a bicycle wheel having a hub, a plurality of spokes, and a rim. The spokes are connected to the hub, each spoke having two ends and a major axis. The ends of each spoke are substantially aligned with the major axis of such spoke. The rim provides a plurality of fixed spoke mounts secured to the spokes. The spoke mounts provide stress grading, in one preferred embodiment by decreasing in section as they extend away from the main body of the rim toward the hub. The spoke mounts are formed integrally with the rim and avoid the use of holes through the wall of the rim that seats the tube. Spoke adjustment mechanisms for straight spokes attached to such spoke mounts are also provided. The disclosure also includes a method of constructing a wheel.

  • Publication number: 20040262861
Abstract: The present invention pertains to a klop skate with pushing and pulling capabilities. In one alternate, the skate includes a glide member (110) for traversing a surface. The skate includes a shoe portion (112) for receiving a skater's foot. The skate has a base secured to the shoe portion (112) and underlying the received foot. The skate has a base lever (114) secured to the shoe portion base. The base lever (114) has a forward end portion and a forward base attachment structure (124) defined by the forward end portion. The base lever (114) has a longitudinal base lever axis aligned with a longitudinal axis of the received foot. The skate also includes an elongate frame (116) for mounting the glide member (110). The frame has a longitudinal axis, a forward end portion, and a forward frame attachment structure (136). The skate has a canted hinge (126) for connecting the forward end portion of the base lever (114) to the forward end portion of the frame (116).
