  • Publication number: 20230266776
Abstract: Systems for isolating a region of a water distribution network are disclosed. In embodiments the systems and methods utilize at least one control valve system that includes a valve, a pressure sensor, an actuator, and a controller. The controller determines a water pressure at the control valve system based at least in part on a sensor signal from the pressure sensor. When the detected pressure is less than or equal to a low pressure threshold the controller issued a control signal that causes the actuator to move the valve to a fully closed position. Multiple control valve systems may be employed to isolate a region of a water distribution network. Methods of isolating a portion of a water distribution network, water distribution network including a control valve system, and control valve systems for use in water distribution networks are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6447028
Abstract: A fitting for connecting two components is described. The fitting may be explosion proof for use in hazardous environments. The fitting may swivel allowing fast and easy connection to fixed components, thus minimizing the time required for installation and periodic maintenance, while maintaining the integrity of the explosion proof fitting. In this way, components—such as electrical conduits containing conductors or wires—can be installed and maintained without the use of damming material. Also described is a method of installing an explosion proof fitting for use in hazardous environments.

  • Patent number: 5294089
Abstract: A proportional flow valve wherein inlet fluid pressure urges the valve member toward the valve seat. A pressure member, which may be a piston, has an effective area substantially larger than that of the valve member, and is also selectively subjected to inlet fluid pressure to urge the valve member away from the valve seat, so as to open the valve and keep it open. A solenoid actuator determines the position of a pilot valve member which controls the flow of inlet fluid to the pressure member, and hence controls the location of the pressure member and the spacing of the valve member from the valve seat. The position of the pilot valve member, and hence the spacing of the valve member from the valve seat, is proportional to the amount of electric current applied to the actuator.

  • Patent number: 4921208
Abstract: A proportional flow valve wherein inlet fluid pressure urges the valve member toward the valve set. A pressure member, which may be a rolling diaphragm, has an effective area about equal to that of the valve orifice and is also subjected to inlet fluid pressure, when the valve is open, to counterbalance the force of the inlet fluid pressure on the valve member. A spring constantly urges the valve member toward the valve seat, to close the valve, and a solenoid actuator, when energized, moves the valve member way from the valve seat against the force of the spring. The distance which the valve member moves from the seat, and hence the rate of flow through the valve, is proportional to the amount of current applied to the solenoid actuator. A pilot valve controls the flow of inlet fluid pressure to the pressure member.
