  • Publication number: 20230075306
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to dispensing devices, and more particularly, to a dispenser that includes a scoop portion that is pinchable to form a spout to facilitate the transferring of metered amounts of a substance (i.e., a fluid or a particulate) to a container having a small mouth. This allows a user to easily supply metered amounts of a substance to a container having a small mouth while minimizing spillage, thereby improving the accuracy of the measurement and avoiding waste of the substance.

  • Patent number: 8685051
Abstract: An Anterior Capsule Remover (“ACR”) device allows an ophthalmologist to safely and efficiently remove an anterior portion of the lens capsule at the beginning of cataract surgery. The device allows the surgeon to safely, efficiently and consistently create a circular central opening of a predetermined diameter in the top of the lens capsule. An exemplary anterior capsule remover apparatus includes a handle and a distal shaft that holds a blade or cutter. One or more o-rings attached to a thumbwheel and to the blade allow the surgeon to easily create a circular, central opening in the anterior capsule of predetermined diameter.

  • Publication number: 20100191255
Abstract: A method of deploying a surgical fastener including the step of introducing the fastener into a body of a patient while the fastener is in a first shape having a first loop with a back span and an original size and shape. The method involves moving the end segments of the fastener in a first manner away from each other while maintaining the fastener in a closed loop. The method also involves moving the end segments of the fastener in a second manner away from each other to open the loop. The method further involves forming the fastener into a second loop having a width greater than the width of the first loop.

  • Patent number: 7441676
Abstract: Disclosed are devices for dispensing media which include, inter alia, a dispenser body, a funnel-shaped cover and a mechanism for securing the cover in the closed position to facilitate the dispensing of media from the spout. The body of the dispenser has an elongated handle with proximal and distal ends and a scoop depending from the distal end of the handle. The funnel-shaped cover is attached to the body of the dispenser and includes an upper spout and a lower base. The cover is adapted for movement between an open position and a closed position; wherein in the open position the cover is spaced apart from the scoop and allows media to be placed into the scoop, and in the closed position, the cover is placed over the scoop such that when media is dispensed from the scoop it passes through the spout of the cover. Also disclosed is a device for dispensing media which includes, among other elements, an elongated handle, a scoop and a stopper arm.
