In this way, the PMD becomes self-contained, and can connect to any host for the purpose of interaction, manipulation and transfer of content stored on the PMD, without requiring any proprietary software related to the PMD to be pre-installed on the host, and without installing any software on the host during the connection of the PMD to the host.
