Patent number: 9544409Abstract: When a call or message is received from an unidentified sender on the user's communication device, the caller identifier application launches a text-based messaging application and causes it to send an “invisible” text-based message to the user's contacts. The message includes the metadata (e.g., telephone number) associated with the call or message that the user received. The invisible message is a short message whose headers are programmed in a particular manner so that the receiving mobile phone acknowledges the receipt of the message and the receiving mobile phone displays no behavior perceptible by the user. When the invisible message is received by the corresponding caller identifier application on one of the user's contact's mobile phone, the application searches the contact's contact list maintained in his or hers contact application. If the metadata provided to the contact's mobile phone is located in the contact list, the contact details (e.g.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 2016Date of Patent: January 10, 2017Assignee: MICROSOFT TECHNOLOGY LICENSING, LLCInventors: Michal Wosk, Alexander Losovsky, Dror Zelber

Patent number: 8548449Abstract: Systems and methods for managing contact information on mobile devices is provided. When a telephone call is initiated or received, a contact record associated with the call is accessed to determine if it includes notes to be displayed during the call. If there are notes to be displayed, they are displayed for the user during the call. Notes may include display tags indicating they should be displayed as well as action tags specifying actions to take for calls with the contact. An option to dismiss the note(s) can be provided, as well as an option to edit the note. When calls complete, the system provides options to the user to create and save a new note for the contact record. In some embodiments, the system provides options for the user to record audio from telephone conversations. The recording is translated to text and optionally stored in a contact record.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 2010Date of Patent: October 1, 2013Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Elinor Axelrod, Dror Zelber

Publication number: 20120201367Abstract: The subject disclosure is directed towards a technology by which a caller can set his or her cellular phone or similar device to automatically sense a called party's busy telephone line for when it becomes free, independent of any carrier-provided monitoring service. If free, the caller is prompted with an option to automatically redial the called party. The called party's line may be sensed seamlessly, that is, without any caller action and/or realization by the called party phone that it is being sensed (e.g., no missed call detected), by processing status messages obtained in response to quickly canceled calls. The lines of more than one called party may be sensed in the same timeframe to determine when each is free.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 9, 2011Publication date: August 9, 2012Applicant: MICROSOFT CORPORATIONInventors: Rachel Sara Honig, Dror Zelber
