    Abstract: The invention provides a process for making a multilayer structure with a printed pattern by providing a film substrate having a crystalline organic compound layer, wherein the substrate optionally has a metal or metaloxide layer between the film substrate and the organic compound layer; applying a printed pattern via a plurality of printing rolls wherein the following steps are performed: optionally, applying as a first layer a primer over the whole surface, applying one or more ink layers on the film to obtain a printed pattern, and optionally, applying a cover varnish layer to obtain a film substrate with a crystalline organic compound layer and a printed pattern. The invention further relates to a laminate comprising a multilayer structure and a plastic film; the laminate preferably comprises a primer substantially covering the whole surface of the organic compound layer, on which primer the print is present.

    Abstract: This invention relates to a process for the preparation of alkenoic acid esters comprising contacting a lactone with an alcohol and an acidic catalyst in the gas phase, characterised in that the process is carried out in the presence of at least 0.26 wt. % water, relative to the amount of the lactone. The process may result in a good production yield and selectivity with respect to the production of alkenoic acid esters and may also result in less formation of dialkylethers. The improved yield advantageously allows energy conservation.

    Abstract: There is disclosed a process for preparing organic nano-particles comprising the steps of: (a) preparing a solution comprising an unsaturated polyester and/or a vinyl ester resin and a hydrophobic monomer; (b) dispersing the solution obtained in step (a) in an aqueous phase to form a stable emulsion where the aqueous phase is the continuous phase; and (c) using an initiator to cure the emulsion obtained in step (b) in the presence of a water soluble inhibitor to form a dispersion of nano-particles. The invention further provides organic nano-particles obtainable by the process according to the invention; various uses of said nano-particles; such as in paper, dye, toner and personal care compositions and topical medicaments comprising said nano-particles.
