    Abstract: A novel polymeric compound is provided. The polymeric compound is highly compatible with reinforcing materials. Particularly, the polymeric compound is highly miscible with inorganic reinforcing materials in the manufacture of a tire. Further provided is a novel bifunctional initiator necessary to prepare the polymeric compound. The bifunctional initiator contains amine moieties. Active ends of the polymer are modified with an alkoxysilane compound. The polymer has an improved affinity for carbon black and silica as reinforcing materials in the manufacture of a tire. Therefore, the use of the polymer can achieve desired physical properties required in a tire, e.g., high wet traction, low rolling resistance and high tread wear.
