Abstract: A network of modular, multitier mobile units that are each capable of collecting data for processing as a user uses them in their residence or business premises performing a task or a chore, or as they move about within an area in a property based on their mobility capabilities and current location. The modular, multitier mobile units are designed including NFC or other near or full contact pads on which emitters and/or sensor units and/or other robot mechanical/electrical units can be docked and powered without requiring connectors. The modular, multitier mobile unit networks are designed to function in many different tiers, such as tier zero node, tier one node, tier two node and tier three cloud node, each having capabilities to process the collected data. The modular, multitier mobile units are capable of sharing the collected data and resources with each other.

Abstract: A network of modular, multitier pool mobile units, that wander around and under water of a swimming pool. The pool mobile units monitor for safety, emergency and accident related events and undertakes appropriate actions, scrub and clean the swimming pool, emit chemical agents to sanitize the swimming pool water, and may play music. The pool mobile units may simply operate on the pool surface, be fully submersible, or semisubmersible. A central server manages a plurality of multitier pool mobile units in a plurality of swimming pools, supports music download, and provides experience based resources for the multitier pool mobile units. The central server provides experience based resources in the form of safety, emergency and accident supports. The user can configure the parameters of both pool mobile unit and the central server.

Abstract: A multi-tired, modular, electronic system which utilizes restricted usage management. In a multi-tiered environment, lower tiered systems contain, based on configuration, mobile units that are capable of performing simple tasks such as lawnmowers, vacuum cleaners, mobile audio/video players to more complex ones capable of performing as human assistants such as robots. Higher tiered systems typically reside in the cloud. Lower tiered mobile units contain modular sensors such as temperature sensor and image/video cameras that generate vast amount of data. The lower tiered mobile units also contain modular emitters that consume vast amount of data. Restrictions for the usage of these mobile units are sent, in the form of metadata, to the lower tiered mobile units, from an intermediate to higher tiered control devices and the rendering app may limit the usage. The intermediate tiered renderer can interact to make sure rules have been followed.

Abstract: A display device comprising a plurality of pixels, each of which is configurable into both a light emitting mode and a reflective mode. Each pixel may be realized via a stacking of display technologies or a merger of display technologies. The display device may be driven by display driver circuitry operable to select which mode the pixels of the device operate in at any given time. The display driver circuitry may in turn be driven by a software driver which issues commands to the display driver circuitry and which may determine which mode is selected.

Abstract: A system comprises a device under test, a testing device coupled to said device under test via a direct connection, and a post-sales support server communicatively coupled to said testing device via a wide area network connection. The testing device is operable to collect, from said device under test via said direct connection, responses to test stimuli generated in accordance with test code. The testing device is operable to provide said responses to said post-sale support server. The post-sale support server is operable to generate a valuation of said device under test based on said responses, and make said valuation available to a user of said device under test. The valuation may comprise a monetary value based offer associated with third party repair, resale and recycling.

Abstract: A system providing billing support for the exchange of media is disclosed. An embodiment of the present invention may provide for the authorization of and billing for the delivery of media from a media server to local storage for consumption on a television display. The media may be audio, still pictures, video, or data. Other embodiments may provide for the authorization of and billing for the transfer of media from a media peripheral to a media server for media backup or distribution. A media peripheral may be, for example, a digital camera, digital camcorder, personal computer (PC), personal digital assistant (PDA), multi-media gateway, and MP3 player. An embodiment may support pre-payment, payment at time of use, and post-use billing for the media exchange. In an embodiment of the present invention, the storing or accessing of media may be performed without identifying the user to the media server.

The at least one processor circuit is configured to determine a predicted behavior of the user based at least on the obtained environmental profile. The at least one processor circuit may be configured to determine the predicted behavior of the user using at least one predictive model associated with the user. The at least one processor circuit may be configured to perform an action related to the predicted behavior of the user, such as an action that facilitates the predicted behavior of the user, an action that impedes the predicted behavior of the user, and/or an action that provides information related to the predicted behavior of the user.

Abstract: An adaptive biometric authentication system may include a user identity reference module that is configured to maintain user identification items stored in a secure memory. The system may include a passive data aggregator that is configured to receive and aggregate data items that are passively collected by a device that is in proximity to a user. The system may include a user identity confidence level generator that is configured to generate a user identity confidence level that indicates a confidence that the user in proximity to the device is the reference user based at least in part on a comparison between the passively collected data items and the user identification items, and to update the user identity confidence level as additional passively collected data items are received. The system may include an authentication module that facilitates user authentication based at least in part on the user identity confidence level.

Abstract: A technique in which a tag associated with a target object is sent to a user device to provide information regarding the target object. The tag includes a rating indicator for a recipient of the tag to respond to the rating indicator, in which the rating indicator is used to request a rating of one or more characteristics related to the target object. The rating response is collected with verification information to determine a level of verification of the rating response, in which the verification may include reliability of the rater providing the rating response. The response and level of verification are used to rank the rating response and provide further filtering of the tag related to the target object.

Abstract: A technique in which autonomous machine-to-machine interactions are identified, setup and maintained between machines by utilizing a registry that may be searched to identify a registered machine. The search may be for a particular target machine or for content. By identifying a target machine, the registry may provide an address to connect two machines for the two machines to interact, such as the download of content stored on one of the machines.

Abstract: Biasing of search results based on device profile and activity data. In various embodiments, biasing operations are performed on search results generated in response to a search query received from a client device. The biasing operations are based on device profile data associated with the client device. Such data may indicate media consumption capabilities of the device or other device hardware and software configuration details. In some embodiments, device activity/sensor data may likewise be employed to bias search results. Biasing operations may include, for example, ranking, prioritizing, or filtering search results to favor results that may be consumed by a client device. Translated and/or targeted and supplemental information may also be provided based on device profile data or user profile data. In certain embodiments, searching and biasing operations may be performed by an intermediary or proxy device.

Abstract: A system and method is provided for internet searching infrastructures and more particularly to hosted client device status supporting the delivery of search results hosted by a client device. A registry table retains client device status information so that when a search result includes specific device hosted content, that client device's status will be known. Client device status includes sleep, offline, predicted period of availability, do-not-disturb (DnD), power availability, or busy along with other status indications.

Abstract: A system and method is provided to distribute preprocessing of client device content. The client device performs preprocessing or alternatively transfers search accessible content to remote systems for preprocessing such as search system infrastructure, set-top boxes, other client devices, etc. Client device content is preprocessed so as to provide, for example, a preview of images available by providing thumbnails of the images, small excerpts of text or a video preview. Offloading of client device content preprocessing duties reduces web server operational requirements and subsequent power needs. Additionally, preprocessing of searchable content can be distributed across multiple content hosts and search infrastructure elements.

Abstract: A system and method for supporting searching of client device hosted content. A search infrastructure supports creation, managing and searching of client device hosted content. A client device, which hosts content, communicates its client device identification (ID), type and access restrictions to the search infrastructure. In addition, the client device communicates a global network route to the client device content as a pointer for the search engine to provide a search requestor access to both the client device and specified content. Client device information is also provided to a client device registry accessible by the search infrastructure, for example a registry maintained in a cloud based service. Client devices can enter into client device services agreement with a third party storage system for the purposes of providing a higher probability that their client device hosted content will be available.

Abstract: A method and system for drawing roaming users to a particular virtually tagged location based on associated geolocation virtual tags. Notifications are provided to the user of a mobile communications device at a first location to attract the user to a second location having associated virtual tags. For example, a series of virtual tags trigger at different distance intervals from the virtually tagged posting location to provide the user with periodic directions (i.e., arrows, audible “turn left here”, “only 100 m away”, etc.) drawing the roaming user to the virtually tagged location. Various modes of operation provide the roaming user with customizability based on individual characteristics, behaviors and preferences.
