  • Patent number: 6609480
Abstract: An improved portable squeeze chute apparatus includes a chute having an entrance end, an exit end, opposing sidewalls, a base and a frame. Each of the sidewalls has a plurality of openable and removable upper panels and openable lower panels for accessing upper portions and lower portions of an animal positioned in the chute. Each of the sidewalls is selectively positionable along a generally horizontal axis in order to immobilize lateral movement of an animal positioned in the chute. An exit gate is positioned at the exit end of the chute to prevent the animal from exiting forwardly from the chute. An entrance gate has interconnected entrance gate side portions for selectively preventing the animal from exiting rearwardly from the chute. Various portions of the apparatus are each controllable by a respective hydraulic chain drive assembly. One such portion includes a pair of arcably pivoting neck stretchers for selectively immobilizing the animal's head and neck while the animal is being worked.

  • Patent number: 5502929
Abstract: A wind and sun barrier includes a barrier panel with a barrier screen effective to reduce wind velocity and to produce shade, the barrier panel pivotally mounted between a pair of support posts. The barrier panel may be pivoted from a vertical position, for blocking wind, to a horizontal position, providing shade thereunder. Releasable lock mechanisms are provided to maintain the barrier in the desired position. A plurality of barrier panels may be aligned between a plurality of posts, to form an elongated barrier wall oriented either vertically or horizontally, depending upon the weather conditions.

  • Patent number: 4802606
Abstract: A newspaper dispenser includes a housing with an upwardly biased platform therein for supporting a stack of newspapers. A scoop assembly which dispenses a single newspaper at a time, is mounted in the housing and includes a pusher arm and a scoop connected to reciprocating rotatable drive shaft. Rotation of the shaft in one direction causes the pusher arm to drop onto the top newpaper and push the top layer rearwardly, while simultaneously dropping a scoop in front of the folded edge of the newspaper. Rotation of the shaft in the opposite direction causes the scoop to slide under the paper, causes the pusher arm to pull the paper onto the scoop, and causes the pusher arm to raise off of the paper as the scoop tilts to drop the paper down a chute for dispensing. A rotatable handle is connected to the scoop assembly via a series of gears and rack and drive gear to operate the reciprocating cycle to dispense a paper.

  • Patent number: 4756325
Abstract: A collapsible canopy for the cargo bay of pick-up trucks, including transversely extending ribs which are longitudinally slidable along tracks on the sides of the cargo bay. Rack and pinion assemblies attached to the legs of the rearward rib, and integrally tied to a rack attached to each track, maintain transverse perpendicular alignment of the legs of that rib. Shafts projecting from the pinions and mounted to the legs of the rear rib are connected by an overhead axle with universal shafts at each end such that longitudinal movement of one leg of the rear rib will rotate its pinion, which is transmitted via the overhead axle to the opposite pinion and will thereby simultaneously move the other leg.
