Patent number: 6364711Abstract: A filtered electrical connector includes a dielectric housing having an array of terminal-receiving passages and at least one mounting post projecting from the housing outside the array of passages. A plurality of terminals are received in the passages and include a plurality of pin portions projecting from the housing in the same direction as the mounting post. A filter block is fit over the pin portions of the terminals. The filter block includes a plurality of pin-receiving holes through which the pin portions of the terminals extend. A mounting hole in the filter block is closely fit about the mounting post projecting from the housing.Type: GrantFiled: October 20, 2000Date of Patent: April 2, 2002Assignee: Molex IncorporatedInventors: Paul Christopher Berg, Duane M. Patent number: 6217354Abstract: A lever type electrical connector assembly includes a first connector having an actuating lever pivotally movably mounted thereon. The actuating lever includes a first cam groove formed therein. A slide member is linearly movably mounted on the first connector and includes a second cam groove formed therein. The slide member has a first cam follower projection engaged in the first cam groove of the actuating lever, whereby pivotal movement of the actuating lever relative to the first connector effects linear movement of the slide member relative to the first connector. A second connector has a second cam follower projection to be engaged in the second cam groove of the slide member, whereby the connectors are mated and unmated in response to rotation of the actuating lever and resulting translation of the slide member.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2000Date of Patent: April 17, 2001Assignee: Molek IncorporatedInventors: Duane M. Fencl, Thomas G. Premo

Patent number: 6030234Abstract: An electronic device includes a flat flexible dielectric substrate less than 0.050 inch thick and having a generally round hole of a given diameter. A terminal pin is inserted into the round hole in the substrate. The pin includes at least one end section having a cross dimension less than the diameter of the hole in the substrate and an enlarged contact section adjacent the end section having a cross dimension greater than the diameter of the hole in the substrate adapted to make contact with the substrate. The difference between the cross sectional dimension of the enlarged contact section of the pin and the diameter of the round hole is between 7% and 67% of the diameter of the hole.Type: GrantFiled: January 23, 1998Date of Patent: February 29, 2000Assignee: Molex IncorporatedInventors: Paul Christopher Berg, Harry N. Etters, Duane M. Fencl, Robert M. Fuerst, Fred Love Krehbiel

Patent number: 5938458Abstract: A lever type electrical connector assembly includes a first connector having an actuating lever pivotally mounted thereon. The actuating lever includes a cam groove formed therein. A second connector has a cam follower projection to be engaged in the cam groove of the actuating lever. The connectors are mated and unmated in response to rotation of the actuating lever. Complementary interengaging pivot bosses and pivot journals are provided between the actuating lever and the first connector. Separate and independently interengaging pivot bosses and pivot journals are provided on both the inside and the outside of the actuating lever.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 1998Date of Patent: August 17, 1999Assignee: Molex IncorporatedInventors: Fred Love Krehbiel, Paul Christopher Berg, Duane M. Patent number: 5415569Abstract: A multi-terminal filtered electrical connector assembly includes a housing having a plurality of terminal-receiving passageways. A plurality of terminals are received in the passageways, with tail portions of the terminals projecting from the housing. A flexible capacitor filter circuit is mounted on the housing and through which the terminals extend. A ferrite block is provided with a plurality of through holes for receiving therethrough portions of the terminals. A terminal alignment plate may be provided for mounting the ferrite block. A second flexible capacitor filter circuit may be provided through which portions of the terminals extend. The ferrite block may be disposed between the two flexible capacitor filter circuits. The housing is constructed for mounting on a printed circuit board to provide either a right angle connector or a direct mounted connector.Type: GrantFiled: January 12, 1994Date of Patent: May 16, 1995Assignee: Molex IncorporatedInventors: Stephen A. Patent number: 5286221Abstract: A multi-terminal filtered electrical connector assembly includes a housing having a plurality of terminal-receiving passageways. A plurality of terminals are received in the passageways, with tail portions of the terminals projecting from the housing. A terminal alignment plate, independent of the housing, includes a plurality of through holes for receiving and aligning the tail portions of the terminals. First complementary interengaging latch devices are provided between the housing and the alignment plate for readily assembling the alignment plate on the housing. A ferrite block is mountable on the alignment plate and includes a plurality of through holes alignable with the holes in the alignment plate for receiving therethrough the tail portions of the terminals. Second complementary interengaging latch devices are provided between the alignment plate and the ferrite block for readily assembling the ferrite block on the alignment plate.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 1992Date of Patent: February 15, 1994Assignee: Molex IncorporatedInventors: Duane M. Patent number: 5277623Abstract: A low profile panel mountable retainer is provided for mounting an elongated electrical connector in an elongated generally rectangular opening in a panel. The retainer is molded of plastic material and includes an elongated, generally rectangular housing insertable into the panel opening for receiving the connector. The housing has end walls and flexible elongated side walls defining a connector-mounting aperture. A pair of resilient wings extend along the outside of each side wall of the housing. Each pair of wings includes an inner snap-in wing, made up of a plurality of discrete snap-in wing portions, spaced from the respective side wall for passing through the panel opening and for bearing against an opposite side of the panel. Each snap-in wing portion provides a discrete retaining area to assure secure mounting of the retainer to the panel. Each pair of wings also includes an outer stop wing spaced from the respective inner snap-in wing for bearing against an entry side of the panel.Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 1992Date of Patent: January 11, 1994Assignee: Molex IncorporatedInventors: Stephen A. Colleran, Duane M. Fencl, Lawrence E. Geib

Patent number: 5277610Abstract: A sealing system is provided between an electrical connector assembly and another connector component, panel or the like. The connector assembly includes a housing having a mating end with a seal-receiving channel and a resilient seal received in the channel. The seal includes a sealing groove having a given width and a given depth. The connector component includes a sealing lip insertable into the sealing groove when the connector assembly and the connector component are mated along a mating axis. The sealing lip has a width greater than the width of the sealing groove and a length relative to the depth of the sealing groove such that the lip is spaced from the bottom of the groove when the connector assembly and the connector component are in mated condition. Therefore, only sealing forces normal to the mating axis are effected between the sealing lip and the sealing groove.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 1992Date of Patent: January 11, 1994Assignee: Molex IncorporatedInventors: Fred L.
