    Abstract: A method for recording the port number of a servo track writer for efficiently managing a manufacturing process of a magnetic storage device. In a manufacturing process of a hard disk drive having a disk as a recording medium, the disk including a data band for recording user data and a plurality of protection bands, the port number of a servo track writer is recorded in at least one of the bands during servo information writing in the method, so that the port number can be read and used for the manufacturing process.
