  • Patent number: 4753697
Abstract: A process and system is provided for making a connection between two fluid-filled plastic tubes that ensures total containment of potentially dangerous fluids and maintaining sterility of the connection. The tubes are folded to remove all fluid from the weld site and positioned to cause the connection to take place in this fluid free zone. Each folded section is first cauterized to create a bacteria free zone, the tubes are slit in the zone, and cauterized a second time to insure sterility and melt the tube ends. The tubes are urged together and as the thermoplastic resin cools, a totally contained, sterile weld is formed.

  • Patent number: 4619642
Abstract: A process, apparatus and system for making a sterile connection between thermoplastic tubes. A section of each tube is flattened and a cutting means is urged through the flattened sections. The tubes are aligned with each other and then the cut tube ends are melted, sterilized, and urged together to form a joint between the tubes for each pair of tube ends to be connected. Each joint is cooled and then subjected to light stress to open the temporary seal in each tube, thereby providing fluid communication therethrough.

  • Patent number: 4610670
Abstract: A process, apparatus and system for making a sterile connection between thermoplastic resin tubes is disclosed. A section of each tube is flattened and a hot cutting means is urged through the flattened sections so as to seal temporarily each tube and to provide molten tube ends. The tubes are aligned with each other and then the desired molten tube ends are urged together to form a joint between the tubes for each pair of tube ends to be connected. Each joint is cooled and then subjected to light stress to open the temporary seal in each tube, thereby providing fluid communication between the joined tubes.

  • Patent number: 4516971
Abstract: A process, apparatus and system for making a sterile connection between two thermoplastic resin tubes is disclosed. The tubes are severed by an array of hot wires so as to form molten tube ends. The array is maintained at a temperature such that ambient air immediately within the vicinity of urging is kept sterile. Then, the tubes are aligned with each other and urged together. As the thermoplastic resin cools a sterile weld is formed.

  • Patent number: 4507119
Abstract: A process, apparatus and system for making a sterile connection between two thermoplastic resin tubes is disclosed. A hot stream of fluid is urged either through both said tubes transversely of the axis of each tube or through opposing side sections of the tubes substantially perpendicular to the axes of the tubes to form continuous contact between the hot fluid stream, the interior of the tubes and molten tube portions thereby formed. The tubes are aligned with each other, if necessary, and urged together while the hot fluid stream is removed. As the thermoplastic resin cools a sterile weld is formed.

  • Patent number: 4488961
Abstract: A one-way filter for use in fluid filtration comprising a housing having inlet and outlet ports, a filter element or elements, free of mobile fibers or filaments, disposed within said housing, and means within said housing for maintaining the filter element or elements in a filtering position during fluid infusion and in a free-flow position during fluid withdrawal.

  • Patent number: 4412835
Abstract: A process, apparatus and system for making a sterile connection between two thermoplastic resin tubes is disclosed. Side sections of the adjacently placed tubes are melted by passing a heated elongated body therethrough to form a molten seal between a surface of the heated body and the adjacent side sections, thereby providing a seal between the interior and exterior of said tubes. The resulting molten tube sections are urged together as they are slid off an end of the elongated body. As the thermoplastic resin cools a sterile weld is formed.

  • Patent number: 4369779
Abstract: A process, apparatus and system for making a sterile connection between two thermoplastic resin tubes is disclosed. The tubes are cut by a hot cutting means so as to form a molten interface between the tubes and the cutting means. The tubes are aligned with each other and slid off an edge of the cutting means while being urged together. As the thermoplastic resin cools a sterile weld is formed. The cutting means should either be thin or have a sharp edge where the aligned tubes are slid off and joined.

  • Patent number: 4205726
Abstract: A horseshoe comprises a U-shaped body member made of resilient material and having an upstanding projection at each of its free ends for fitting into corresponding pockets in the hoof with the horseshoe being additionally secured to the hoof by nails.

  • Patent number: 4182340
Abstract: A crack in a horse's hoof is repaired by forming holes through the hoof on opposite sides of the crack, threading an elongated strand or suture through the holes in the hoof and filling the crack with adhesive material which enters into the air spaces of the strand to thereby prevent the crack from enlarging.

  • Patent number: 4036302
Abstract: A horseshoe is applied to the hoof by means of elongated strands or laces which are adhesively secured to the shoe after being threaded through holes in the hoof. The laces have a breaking strength less than that of the strength of the horse's hoof. The horseshoe itself includes a pad having a barrier sheet with loops on one side thereof integrally secured to the body member of the shoe, while loops on the other side provide means to facilitate adhesive securement to the hoof.
