Abstract: A communications system and a method of transmitting physical channels in the communications system. A base station judges whether the orthogonality is effected among the physical channels before transmitting the physical channels. If the physical channels are non-orthogonal as a result of judgement, the base station determines starting points of transmission of the physical channels to be different from one another, and then transmits data to corresponding mobile stations through the physical channels having the different starting points of transmission.

Abstract: A system and method for allocating channelization code and scrambling code in multiple code rates is disclosed. In the present invention, many user signals that have various chip rates in overlaid frequency band can be transmitted with minimum interference between users, by allocating orthogonal spreading code in which the sum of bits for a period that is determined by the ratio of chip rates is canceled respectively, as channelization codes.
