  • Patent number: 9909709
Abstract: A support for supporting a structure on a surface, comprising at least one support element, each support element comprising a piston, a cylinder in which the piston is moveable, and a brake for maintaining the piston in a position that is stable relative to the cylinder, wherein the piston and the cylinder are arranged so that a loading associated with the structure effects an adjustment of the support element, and wherein an increase in hydraulic pressure within the cylinder, effected by the loading associated with the structure, activates the brake.

  • Publication number: 20080190696
Abstract: A support for supporting a structure on a surface, comprising at least one support element, each support element comprising a piston, a cylinder in which the piston is moveable, and a braking means for maintaining the piston in a position that is stable relative to the cylinder, wherein the piston and the cylinder are arranged so that a loading associated with the structure effects an adjustment of the support element, and wherein an increase in hydraulic pressure within the cylinder, effected by the loading associated with the structure, activates the braking means.

  • Patent number: 6647561
Abstract: A spool for use with a swimming pool cover or with a shade cover. The spool has a roller assembly, and a cover (not shown) may be wound onto the roller assembly or unwound from the assembly. The roller assembly has a pre-tensioned rubber strip that when viewed in transverse cross-section is substantially rectangular in shape and two opposing sides of the rectangle are notched. This strip is tensioned when the cover is unwound from the spool and a locking mechanism retains the cover in a desired unwound position against the tension of the rubber strip.
