  • Publication number: 20140163758
Abstract: A system, a method and a computer program product for determining an amount of an electric power to be generated in an electric power system and determining a total cost for generating the amount of electric power while satisfying at least one contingency constraint and one or more customer request. The system creates an optimization problem for calculating amount of the electric power to be generated and a total cost for generating the calculated amount of the electric power while meeting the at least one contingency constraint. The system runs the optimization problem in real-time. The system outputs, from the optimization problem, an output specifying the calculated amount of the electric power and the total cost to generate the calculated amount of the electric power.

  • Publication number: 20130136858
Abstract: A spin coating apparatus for applying adhesive to a substrate includes: a rotatable chuck configured to receive and hold a substrate thereon; a nozzle positioned above the rotatable chuck and configured to dispense the adhesive onto a surface of the substrate; a containment pan surrounding the rotatable chuck and configured to contain excess adhesive; a collection container in fluid communication with the containment pan; and a removal device positioned within the containment pan configured to direct the excess adhesive into the collection container.

  • Patent number: 7291446
Abstract: During pattern transfer to a film stack, the hard mask layer, such as a tunable etch resistant antireflective coating (TERA), is consumed when etching the underling layer(s), leading to reduced etch performance and potential damage to the underlying layer(s), such as lack of profile control. A method of and system for preparing a structure on a substrate is described comprising: preparing a film stack comprising a thin film, a hard mask formed on the thin film, and a layer of light-sensitive material formed on the hardmask; forming a pattern in the layer of light-sensitive material; transferring the pattern to the hard mask; removing the layer of light-sensitive material; treating the surface layer of the hard mask in order to modify the surface; and transferring the pattern to the thin film.

  • Publication number: 20070029060
Abstract: A high-speed apparatus for applying material to cigarette paper during manufacture uses at least two independently operable, moving orifice devices, each positioned to deposit horizontal bands of material on a paper web at the dry end of a Fourdrinier wire. The resulting web may be cut into multiple webs, each web having a width corresponding to the effective width of a moving orifice device. Dynamic optical inspection apparatus evaluates add-on band uniformity, thickness, and/or spacing and adjusts operation of the apparatus accordingly. The apparatus can simultaneously produce both banded and unbanded paper for wrapping tobacco during cigarette manufacturing.

  • Publication number: 20030113388
Abstract: This invention provides compositions and methods to treat medical disorders, such as skin conditions, using a combination of turmeric extracts, and hydroxy acids, and/or alpha-1-antitrypsin. Skin conditions such as psoriasis, severe dryness, itchiness, stretch marks, acne, and microbial infection are treated by topical application of the compositions.

  • Patent number: 5769782
Abstract: A retractor comprising a first blade and a second blade, the first blade and second blade having a first blade tip and second blade tip, respectively. The first blade and second blade attach at a pivot point for allowing the first blade tip and second blade tip to move toward and away from each other to create an opening having an opening magnitude. The second blade has a ruler extension having ruler indicia, and the first blade has an arrow end opposite the first blade tip. The arrow end refers to the ruler indicia to indicate the opening magnitude of the retractor. The second blade has a handle track. A handgrip is attached to a bar which is slidably mounted in the handle track. The ruler indicia on the second blade also extends along the handle track.
