  • Patent number: 4348055
Abstract: In an automatic tailgate of a dump truck a continuous single cable extends from a left side gate lever arm to a right side gate lever arm after passing below the dump body of the truck and being movably secured to the truck frame. When the dump body is in a dumping mode the continuous single cable will allow equalization of tailgate lifting forces.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 5, 1980
Date of Patent: September 7, 1982
    Assignee: International Harvester Co.
Inventors: David B. Meisner, Dusan M. Vacval
  • Patent number: 4345674
Abstract: A disc brake pad retractor includes a resistance member carried on a rod positioned between a pair of brake pads. The resistance member will be moved laterally as the pads wear. A spring loaded housing is associated with the resistance member and will serve to urge a brake pad away from the rotor when the disc brake is disengaged.

  • Patent number: 4323279
Abstract: A dump truck is provided with a tailgate pivotably mounted to the exterior of the dump body. The tailgate fits into the body between the body sidewalls at a position inboard of the extreme end of the body. The tailgate pivots up and away from the body when the body is hoisted to a dumping mode.

  • Patent number: 4222463
Abstract: An elastomeric bushing encircles a piston of a mechanically operated disc brake system forming a seal between the piston and its host cylindrical bore. The elastomeric bushing provides for a small amount of lateral piston travel and will provide a retraction means to return the brake piston to a position of repose.

  • Patent number: 4117911
Abstract: Disc brake sliding caliper retention is provided by a pair of torque bars fixedly mounted to a non-rotating member adjacent a rotating disc member. The torque bar pair constrains at least one sliding caliper from rotation with the disc when the caliper clamps down on the disc but allows axially movement relative to the rotational axis of the disc. The torque bars are mounted to the non-rotating member such that caliper forces resulting from engagement with the disc are perpendicular to the torque bars thus eliminating turning or shifting of the torque bars.
