  • Publication number: 20210393303
Abstract: The invention relates to an orthopedic implant system comprising an implant including a threaded aperture which receives either a first non-locking bone fastener or a second threaded variable axis locking fastener. The threaded aperture includes interruptions to form sections having a thread segment. The variable axis locking fastener has a threaded head configured to cause the threads to wedge against the female threads of the aperture as the fastener is tightened into the aperture in an off-axis orientation. In a further embodiment, the aperture includes a concentric annular groove to form flexible threaded fines.

  • Publication number: 20210315478
Abstract: The present invention provides a MEMS sensor guidance system mounted on a surgical instrument and uses the MEMS sensor to determine Inertial Measurement Units to track rotation and acceleration in all three spatial directions. Further the invention provides a method of surgery in which a reference axis, a loci, and a depth are defined and the instrument including the sensor duster of the invention is placed in relation to the y-axis and x-axis and following the working end is aligned and the orientation and depth data display is observed to aid in maintaining the desired instrument.

  • Publication number: 20210236183
Abstract: The present invention relates to a series of orthopedic plates for use in repair of a bone. The plate has a Y-shaped profile or an X-shaped profile which includes an elongate central trunk with a complex contour and either one or two terminal pairs of arms that have a first arm and a second arm that form differing angles and lengths relative to the trunk portion of the plate. The arms include locking screw holes where the screws converge toward each other to provide for multiplanar fixation but which do not impinge.

  • Patent number: 11000323
Abstract: The invention is a super elastic bone plate and inserter. The bone plate has a plate section with openings for screws at fixed or variable angles, an optional compression slot, and a pronged section (i.e. the claw foot), which is generally transverse to the long axis of the plate for insertion, and after deployment returns to an angle of less than 90° to impart compression at a bone/bone interface, e.g. to cause fusion between bone segments. The inserter, which has a first leg with a frictional fit holding block for the plate and a second leg with a holding and activation mechanism for the super elastic pronged section. The invention also relates to a method of bone fusion using the plate system.
