Patent number: 9309919Abstract: A spherical joint comprises a socket, a ball stud, and a seal. The ball stud comprises a shaft, an inner ring positioned within an outer ring of the socket and within which the shaft is positioned, and a ring retainer attached to the shaft and retaining the inner ring to the shaft. The ring retainer provides an axial end of the ball stud relative to the axis. The outer ring and the inner ring comprise respectively a first spherical surface and a second spherical surface. The first and second spherical surfaces spherically mate with one another. The seal establishes a sealed connection between the outer ring and the inner ring. The socket and the ring retainer cooperate to provide a motion limiter that limits relative movement between the socket and the ball stud so as to prevent contact between the ring retainer and the seal.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2013Date of Patent: April 12, 2016Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventor: Dustin T. Patent number: 9228316Abstract: The present disclosure provides a circle drive assembly for a motor grader. The circle drive assembly includes a circle member being rotatable about a rotation axis, a first hydraulic cylinder and a second hydraulic cylinder for rotatably driving the circle member, and a first and second coupling mechanisms. The first hydraulic cylinder has a first end coupled to the first coupling mechanism and the second hydraulic has a second end coupled to the second coupling mechanism. The first coupling mechanism and second coupling mechanism can be controllably moved between a clamped position and an unclamped position. The first hydraulic cylinder rotatably drives the circle member when the first coupling mechanism is in the clamped position and the second hydraulic cylinder rotatably drives the circle member when the second coupling mechanism is in the clamped position.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 2013Date of Patent: January 5, 2016Assignee: DEERE & COMPANYInventors: Dustin T. Publication number: 20150135866Abstract: A draft apparatus for a motor grader comprises a draft frame, a circle, a moldboard, a circle drive, a guard, and a seal. The circle comprises a circle gear. The circle is connected to the draft frame for rotation relative to the draft frame about an axis of the circle gear. The moldboard is mounted to the circle for rotation therewith about the axis. The circle drive is mounted to the draft frame and comprises a pinion engaging the circle gear to rotate the circle and the moldboard about the axis. The guard depends from the draft frame so as to provide radial cover of the circle gear and the pinion relative to the axis. The seal establishes a sealed connection between the guard and the circle.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 20, 2013Publication date: May 21, 2015Applicant: Deere & CompanyInventors: Dustin T.
