  • Publication number: 20150328465
Abstract: The present invention generally relates to patterned intensity modulation of neural tissue. Certain embodiments provide a method of treating medical conditions by providing an electrode and modulating stimulation parameters delivered by the electrode. The stimulation parameters that are modulated relate to stimulation intensity and are varied according to a stimulation input parameter or time. The stimulation input parameter can be a choice of an individual waveform (i.e. ? or psi), which may be varied for each pulse.

  • Publication number: 20150229046
Abstract: One aspect of the present disclosure can include an interconnect system for bridging electrical contacts. The system can include a first electrical contact, a second electrical contact, and an interconnect device that is coupled to and extends between the first and second electrical contacts. The interconnect device can include a flexible bridge and a non-linear conductive transmission line. The flexible bridge can have a length and an outer surface. The non-linear conductive transmission line can extend along, and encircle at least a portion of, the length of the bridge such that the non-linear conductive transmission line electrically connects the first electrical contact with the second electrical contact.

  • Publication number: 20140364879
Abstract: A flat interface nerve electrode provides a plurality of electrical contacts embedded in a non-conductive cuff structure, which acts to gently and non-evasively redefine the geometry of a nerve through the application of a force acting on the nerve without causing damage to the nerve. The cuff is open at one side and has a connection to a lead at the other side. During implantation the open sides of the cuff are closed so as to capture the nerve in the cuff in a single motion.

  • Patent number: 6456866
Abstract: A flat interface nerve electrode is provided along with a method for its use. The electrode provides a plurality of conductive elements embedded in a non-conductive cuff structure, which acts to gently and non-evasively redefine the geometry of a nerve through the application of a force so as to apply pressure to a nerve in a defined range, namely from 2 to 40 mmHG and more preferably from 15 to 30 mmHG and most preferably from 15 mmHG to 20 MMHG. This range is selected to minimize the reduction of blood flow within the tissue, which preferably is at least 70% of the initial value, more preferably 90% of the initial value. The cuff has an opening, which is elongated relative to the diameter of the nerve to which it is applied. Preferably, the cuff is constructed from an elastic bio-compatible material having top and bottom beam members configured to define a nerve opening.
