    Abstract: A collapsible protective shield assembly for grass and weed trimmers can be mounted on conventional grass and weed trimmers to keep debris from reaching the operator. When open, the shield assembly can be adjusted to enable the trimmer to get into hard to reach places. When not in use, the shield assembly can be collapsed into a compact configuration for easy storage. The shield assembly is mounted on the trimmer shaft a sufficient distance away from the trimmer cutting head to allow unobstructed operation of the trimmer.
