Patent number: 10181363Abstract: Polymer compositions containing a polyoxymethylene base polymer that is compounded with a conductive filler, a polyalkylene glycol, and a metal oxide are disclosed that exhibit electrostatic dissipative (ESD) capabilities while also being resistant to degradation upon exposure to aggressive fuels. For instance, the polymer compositions can have a volume resistivity of from about 1 Ohm-cm to about 200 Ohm-cm and a surface resistivity of about 103 Ohms to about 104 Ohms. Further, the polymer compositions can have a strain at break of from about 15% to about 23%. The polymer compositions can be formed into a shaped or molded article such as a connector, filter housing, baffle, flange, reservoir, port, tube, or pipe, etc. for use in fuel systems where uniform increased conductivity and resistance to aggressive fuels are required.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 2013Date of Patent: January 15, 2019Assignee: Ticona LLCInventors: Jeremy Hager Klug, Dwight D. Smith

Patent number: 9991021Abstract: Polymer compositions containing a polyoxymethylene base polymer that is compounded with a conductive filler and pigment carbon black are disclosed that exhibit electrostatic dissipative (ESD) capabilities while also being laser weldable. The polymer composition can be formed into shaped or molded articles such as filters, flanges, connectors, etc. for use in fuel systems where conductivity, ductility, weldability, and resistance to aggressive fuels are required. The compositions can be compounded into a pellet product which can then be formed into a shaped article that complies with the ESD capabilities required by SAE J1645. At the same time, parts produced from the compositions can absorb laser energy sufficiently to form a high quality welded interface with parts produced from other compositions that are transparent to laser radiation and cannot absorb laser energy sufficiently.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 2013Date of Patent: June 5, 2018Assignee: Ticona LLCInventors: Jeremy Hager Klug, Dwight D. Smith, Richard Novaco

Publication number: 20140137975Abstract: Polymer compositions containing a plasticized, impact modified polyoxymethylene composition that is compounded with a conductive filler composition are disclosed that are flexible while also exhibiting electrostatic dissipative (ESD) capabilities. The polymer compositions can be formed into shaped articles such as tubes, hoses, etc. for use in fuel transfer systems. The plasticized, impact modified polyoxymethylene composition includes a functionalized polyoxymethylene, a plasticizer, and an impact modifier. Meanwhile, the conductive filler composition includes a conductive filler and a high flow polyoxymethylene. The compositions can be compounded into a pellet product which can then be formed into a shaped article that complies with the ESD capabilities required by SAE J1645.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 29, 2013Publication date: May 22, 2014Applicant: Ticona LLCInventors: Jeremy Hager Klug, Dwight D. Patent number: 6492589Abstract: An electronics enclosure (10) utilizing thermal insulating ceramic coating (50) includes a first member (14) having a first surface (26), and a second member (16) having a second surface (28). The first and second members (14, 16) are movable relative to each other between an enclosing position wherein a plurality of electronic components (12) are enclosed within an interior chamber (19) of the electronics enclosure (10), and an open position wherein the plurality of electronic components (12) are accessible for servicing. With the first and second members (14, 16) in the enclosing position, the first and second surfaces (26, 28) face and extend around the interior chamber (19). The first and second members (14, 16) have third and fourth surfaces (32, 34), respectively, facing oppositely from the first and second surfaces (26, 28) and defining the exterior of the first and second members (14, 16), respectively.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 2000Date of Patent: December 10, 2002Assignee: Ericsson Inc.Inventor: Dwight D. Patent number: 4550850Abstract: A method is provided for producing an end plate for a container having a continuous wall, with a novel end plate being produced thereby. The end plate includes a thickened plate which is disposed perpendicular to the continuous wall, with the thickened plate having a diameter less than the inner diameter of the cylindrical walls. A sheet having a peripheral down-turned flange is disposed above the thickened plate, with the down-turned flange having a diameter greater than the diameter of the cylindrical walls. An opening is provided in the sheet which is aligned with an opening in the thickened plate. An end portion of the continuous wall is bent outwardly to form a peripheral lip which has an outer diameter less than the diameter of the sheet. A seam between the continuous wall and the metal sheet is formed by inserting a stud into the opening and engaging a groove-containing roller to the down-turned flange and peripheral lip.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 1982Date of Patent: November 5, 1985Assignee: Stant Inc.Inventors: Dwight D.
