  • Patent number: 10709140
Abstract: The methods, kits, and products for controlling a target insect population are disclosed in which a non-host plant containing a toxin and a chemical attractant known to attract the target insect is treated with chemical attractant from a plant of interest. The chemical attractant induces the target insect to lay eggs on the non-host plant. The resulting offspring die of starvation from refusing to feed on the non-host plant. The non-host plant and plant of interest contain at least one common chemical. The methods, kits, and products for controlling a target insect population using an extract from a non-host plant are also disclosed. The non-host plant extract is applied to the plant of interest, and when ingested or applied directly to the target insect, kills the target insect or causes it to develop with deformities.

  • Patent number: 7311291
Abstract: An elongated support post for a mailbox has a mailbox support arm secured to an upper portion of the support post and at least one anchor fin secured to a lower portion of the support post and projectingly outwardly therefrom. In one embodiment of the invention a pair of support fins is secured to generally opposed portions of the support post and project radially outwardly therefrom. The support post may have openings into which portions of the support fins extend for mechanical interengagement therebetween. The support fins are preferably taperedly downwardly so as to facilitate insertion of the post into the earth.

  • Patent number: 7025670
Abstract: A wind powered rotatable vent includes an annular rotatable louvered panel axially rotatable about a shaft and an impeller disposed in spaced underlying relationship with respect to the rotatable louvered panel and rotatably secured to the shaft. A fixed collar underlies at least a portion of the rotatable louvered panel and a brace which is rotatably secured to the shaft has first arms secured to an upper portion of the rotatable louvered panel and second arms secured to a lower portion thereof. The collar and rotatable louvered panel define a passageway for flow of air therethrough. The rotatable louvered panel is structured to rotate responsive to wind impinging thereon and responsive to air flowing upwardly through the impeller in the passageway.

  • Patent number: 6793574
Abstract: A vent which is attachable but not attached to a structure includes a body having openings for passage of air therethrough while resisting undesired entry of foreign matter. The body has a plurality of fastener receiving passageways. Passageways have an entry end and an exit end and fasteners extend into the passageways for retention therein prior to securement of the vent to the structure. The passageways are preferably composed of a resilient material and the passageway opening has at least portions of lesser opening size than the average diameter of the shank of the fasteners such as nails. In another embodiment, the passageways may be composed of a suitable metal. The passageway may have radially inwardly projecting portions which define a generally triangular segmented surface for retention of the fastener. The vent may be a roof ridge ventilator or other type of vent.

  • Patent number: 5076187
Abstract: A device for gathering in and folding the mainsail on the boom of a sailboat. Four battens are inserted into the slots of the batten holders, which are secured to the boom with fasteners, forming a cradle projecting out at 45.degree. from vertical on both sides of the boom, that holds the mainsail in place when raising or lowering.
