  • Patent number: 4542461
Abstract: A duty cycle data acquisition system for a truck having an elevatable dump body, a hydraulic hoisting mechanism, throttle and transmission controls, and a retarder further including a microprocessor having an analog imput corresponding to ground speed of the truck and which records the amount of time the ground speed remains in any of a plurality of increments corresponding to the speed range of the truck in one of eight histogram output memories selectively determined by the inputs of a plurality of on-off switches corresponding to throttle position, transmission forward or reverse position, retarder position, and a one-shot timer switch activated by a loaded dump body actuating circuit, the latter circuit including a switch sensing body position relative to the frame disposed in series with a pressure switch located in the hoist mechanism, the pressure switch being calibrated to close only when a loaded body is lifted.

  • Patent number: 4323279
Abstract: A dump truck is provided with a tailgate pivotably mounted to the exterior of the dump body. The tailgate fits into the body between the body sidewalls at a position inboard of the extreme end of the body. The tailgate pivots up and away from the body when the body is hoisted to a dumping mode.

  • Patent number: 4269002
Abstract: Disc brake rotors on driven axles are resurfaced without being removed from host axles by replacing the relatively non-abrasive service brake pads with abrasive grinding pads. Grinding pads are urged into contact with the rotor being resurfaced utilizing the service brake piston. The rotor to be resurfaced is driven by the vehicle drive train after the vehicle has been raised to prevent wheel contact with the ground.

  • Patent number: 4237950
Abstract: A grouser retainer that is positioned between a belt and a tire carcass provides an anchor for attaching one outboard end of a grouser to a tracked tire assembly. A pair of grouser retainers, one at each edge of the track or belt, are used to anchor each grouser as each grouser retainer is less than the full width of the tire tread.

  • Patent number: 4222463
Abstract: An elastomeric bushing encircles a piston of a mechanically operated disc brake system forming a seal between the piston and its host cylindrical bore. The elastomeric bushing provides for a small amount of lateral piston travel and will provide a retraction means to return the brake piston to a position of repose.

  • Patent number: 4216972
Abstract: A primary face type seal is maintained in face to face engagement by secondary elastomer seals. A multi-part retainer encircles the primary and secondary seals to provide a unitizing housing for permanently locating the enclosed seals in appropriate alignment.

  • Patent number: 4117911
Abstract: Disc brake sliding caliper retention is provided by a pair of torque bars fixedly mounted to a non-rotating member adjacent a rotating disc member. The torque bar pair constrains at least one sliding caliper from rotation with the disc when the caliper clamps down on the disc but allows axially movement relative to the rotational axis of the disc. The torque bars are mounted to the non-rotating member such that caliper forces resulting from engagement with the disc are perpendicular to the torque bars thus eliminating turning or shifting of the torque bars.
