  • Patent number: 8247630
Abstract: A process for isomerizing ethylbenzene into xylenes such as para-xylene using a zeolitic catalyst system based on low Si/Al2 MTW-type zeolite that preferably is substantially free of mordenite. The catalyst may be bimetallic where the two metals are platinum and tin.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 12, 2009
Date of Patent: August 21, 2012
    Assignee: UOP LLC
Inventors: Paula L. Bogdan, John E. Bauer, E. Alejandro Leon-Escamilla, Gregory F. Maher, Robert B. Larson

  • Patent number: 5891417
Abstract: A new family of crystalline molecular sieves have been synthesized. These compositions have a microporous structure of ZrO.sub.3 octahedral units, and at least one of SiO.sub.2 tetrahedral units and GeO.sub.2 tetrahedral units. Optionally, the molecular sieves contain M metals such as titanium, niobium, or tin. These novel molecular sieves are prepared hydrothermally from a reaction mixture composed of reactive sources of the components. Additionally, these molecular sieves are useful for the selective adsorption of ammonium ions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 15, 1997
Date of Patent: April 6, 1999
    Assignee: Uop LLC
Inventors: David S. Bem, John D. Sherman, Amedeo Napolitano, E. Alejandro Leon-Escamilla, Gregory J. Lewis, Robert L. Bedard
