  • Publication number: 20090045649
Abstract: Door gap seals and seal assemblies for over road trailers and other over road cargo carriers are disclosed herein. An over road trailer configured in accordance with one embodiment of the invention includes a door rotatably mounted to a container body proximate an opening. The door moves between a closed position in which the door at least partially covers the opening, and an open position in which the door is spaced apart from the opening to form a gap therebetween. The over road trailer further includes a seal attached to at least one of the door and the container body. The seal is at least partially compressed and/or deflected between the door and the container body to seal the gap when the door is in the open position.

  • Patent number: 7383071
Abstract: One embodiment is a microprobe. An example of the microprobe comprises a housing having an aperture. This example of the microprobe also comprises an ISFET attached to the housing. The ISFET may have a gate located proximate the aperture. This example of the microprobe further comprises a reference electrode attached to the housing proximate the aperture. Another embodiment is a microsensor system. Another embodiment is a method for measuring a characteristic of tissue. Yet another condition embodiment is a method for monitoring tissue pH.

  • Patent number: 5339570
Abstract: The contact wheel according to the present invention comprises an annular support portion having external surfaces, and a generally cylindrical peripheral surface. The peripheral surface has spaced edges each adjoining an adjacent external surface, and circumferentially spaced elongate grooves formed therein with land portions disposed between the grooves. The grooves are spaced from the respective adjacent edges of the peripheral surface to provide annular land surfaces at each edge of the peripheral surface. The contact wheel further includes one or more passageways formed therein, which communicate with a groove at a first end of the passageway, and with either an external surface of the annular support portion, or an adjacent groove at a second end of the passageway. The passageways aid in reducing the amount of noise generated by the contact wheel when it is rotated with the abrasive belt entrained thereover.

  • Patent number: 4889348
Abstract: A seal system is disclosed for sealing a housing and rotatable shaft against leakage of high vapor-pressure liquids. The method of sealing contemplates phase change of the liquefied hydrocarbon fluid across a first module. The gas so formed is contained by a second seal module which operates as a dry running gas seal. The seal system has plural, axially spaced spiral-groove seal modules mounted between the shaft and housing. Each seal module has a primary ring affixed to the housing and a mating ring affixed for rotation with the shaft and the modules define an intermediate cavity. The rings have opposed, radially extending faces, one of which has a plurality of downstream pumping spiral grooves extending from one circumference. The grooves of the grooved ring of the upstream module are of a depth not to exceed about 100 micro-inches. In a preferred form, the depth of the grooves of the upstream module do not exceed 50 micro-inches.

  • Patent number: 4463758
Abstract: A computed tomography stereostactic frame is disclosed designed for use with a CT Scanner. The frame comprises a platform or support including an area thereon for supporting a patient's head and for maintaining the patient's head in position. An inverted substantially U-shaped frame is selectively movably mounted on the support. A probe holder is selectively movably mounted on either of the leg portions or the base portion of the frame and is designed to permit a twist drill bit or probe to be extended therethrough.
